barrett
I know there is often a bit of reverse snobbery on Autoshite, some members refuse to acknowledge 'proper' cla**ic cars as being in any way desirable, but if you haven't got a total lob-on over that Alpine then I'm not sure you're even human. What a totally, utterly wonderfully gorgeous car. Maybe I'm just biased - the very first car magazine I had, when I was about 3 years old, had a blue Alpine just like that on the cover. Instead of 'bedtime stories' I got my mum to read me articles from that magazine, and eventually when I learned to read myself it was that magazine I was reading. IIRC one of the other articles was an in-depth history of Stanguellini (google it), looking back there was no chance I was gonna turn out 'normal' was there? No I havent Billy, but it might be worth the trip out (in the Golf, as I suspect at 18mpg random drives in the Chrysler will be special occasions only) Cavcraft

mk1_4dr
A few fresh spots from the last couple of weeks. The final trip for what looks to be half of a late 70s Pontiac Bonneville Went to go pick up some bits for the Golf (mine on the right) and the lads yard was a goldmine, you can't see the C3 Corvette, Dayvan and multitude of other tat.. Dropped into Cas-Am as I was passing and looksee what was tucked around the back Down a Leeds sidestreet Walked out of my house and was confronted by this being loaded onto a trailer over the road Stashed on a industrial estate near my local Andrew Pages. An honest looking splitty on the school run, I see this quite often Took a wander into town and found this parked a couple of streets away from home. mk1_4dr
What was that Pontiac loaded on? Looks a bit dodgy. It was loaded on a flatbed Transit in about the 'pikey-est' fashion I have ever had the misfortune to see on the open roads. The Pontiac had been gas-axed at the b-posts and folded in half on the bed. I took the picture after the driver had, in his ultimate wisdom, stopped 2/3rds of the way up a steep-ish hill on a very narrow country lane with almosty zero passing visibility to resecure his load. As I crept past I could feel him pricing up how much he'd get if he performed a similar act on the Whale. Nasty bastard.
mk1_4dr
I sold the Golf to a specialist a couple of months ago, and this is what was knocking about in his yard that particular morning.

mk1_4dr
Hey that Auntie is a fine looking old thing, what's the story with it do you know? I'm not sure of the story, all I know is it's a restorer who rents some space in the same block of storage as the VW specialist that I sold the Golf to. The 3 times I've been he's always got different stuff knocking about.
Split_Pin
Glad to see its getting some love. Way before my time but I've always loved the styling of these and their suicide rear doors.
mk1_4dr
Popped up to Croft yesterday to watch a mate of a mate do abit of stage rallying, and being that sort of event there was some interesting stuff parked about the place... And the car that John was driving, a Rover ZR with a 1600honda lump under the bonnet. I'll post a thread on the track action later.
mk1_4dr
Just a couple from yesterdays tat collection mission. Little R5 looking somewhat abandoned outside the first engineering supplier we went to whilst searching for wheelnuts Kev's Sunny, resplendent with Oldsmobile bonnet scene roofrack tat. Passed this on the M1 somewhere between J26 and J30

mk1_4dr
A bump back from the dead. But I think this most recent spot is worth it.
