Aston Martin
I have a request. I saw a 'Chinese' knockoff suv, it looked like the arse end of a HRV. But made of much crapper plastic and it was called a Lyecant or something. 🤷🏻♂️ Remspoor

Maybach were mentioned , they seem to be carrying on this theme even today. Spohn started out building 'normal' cars before the war. The Maybach Zeppelin was an incredible bit of advanced design for the mid-30s when Europe was going mad for this sort of thing. They also did more conventional things which are quite attractive in a German sort of way It just turned out that after WW2, American GIs would pay good money to have custom-built cars made for them, and the more eye-catching and outrageous they were the better. So, blame the Americans for the postwar horrors. egg, SteersWithThrottle, Remspoor and 1 other 3

bunglebus
Will Vauxhall Opel try and stop them using the name to avoid confusion? After all they're similar cars. Ford had similar concerns about people confusing the Ford Sierra With the Dutton Sierra, so similar were they Quote In 1979, Dutton launched the Dutton Sierra, an Escort-based estate car with off-road looks. Three years later, the Ford Motor Company decided to use the Sierra name on their Cortina/Taunus replacement, and served Dutton with a legal writ demanding that they stop using the name. At a case in the High Court in London, though, Dutton won the right to continue with the name on kit cars, as the judge ruled that they were a separate category from assembled cars. Subsequently sold Monteverdi the rights to the name "Sierra" to the Ford Group, which the successor to the Ford Taunus was the name. According to recent press reports, Monteverdi for a fee of five Swiss francs for each manufactured Ford Sierra received. bunglebus and Austat
