What in the name of all thats shite is this?!!!!! Spotted today in a car park near home. It’s an Isuzu of some sort. Never seen one before, ever. Obviously a jap import as there’s a pointless mirror on the front wing.

I remember a group test in Auto Express back in the day of 'real-life concepts' - this, the Renault Spider and, erm, a couple of others I've forgotten.

Not that I give a shit but they claim it's the world's first convertible SUV which is blatantly untrue.  I can think of the Nisaan Murano convertible and whatever that crappy range rover thing was for a start.

The model name sounds like a cross between a dinosaur and a wrestler. I mean the names of some cars these days... take the Mokka for example.

The worst thing about that is they killed off the drop top Golf in favor of this, as well as killing off the manual Golf R. They even make an R model of the T-Rok..think a Golf R on stilts and generally a worse drive(But costing more)

So let's go back to 2012 when VW was last a bit silly, the Golf R convertible! The AWD, Turbo 4-pot, manual droptop hatchback that cost £40k!

Was behind one of these yesterday, looked alright.

Suzuki Kizashi, bit of a sales flop I think only sold for a short while, depreciating nicely. I hope someone here gets one soon!

it's not even the first one they've made...

German Army Wehrmacht Kubelwagen

Parked next to another claim for the 'first'.

Appropriate name, cos I would be VehiCross if you parked that ugly thing anywhere that I could see it.

The point about these is how early they are in that style. This is a hugely influential design - in that sort of sports off-road style. Horrible but influential.  The Nissan Juke for example did not arrive 'till 2010.

Probably a bit new for these parts. Mate of mine bought a 2013 one about a year ago. Weird thing! 2.4 Sport ... has a CVT. 😮

Earlier this week, I found myself trapped in traffic behind a Rolls-Royce Cullinan. No photo as I wouldn't want to inflict it on anyone with a morning head. Think two giant Duplo bricks with metallic paint.

Later, I found out there's a wallet-Barry version with the catchy* moniker of "Novitec Cullinan Overdose by SPOFEC".

"Overdose" FFS

I thought the convertibles version lost AWD because of under-body bracing that meant they couldn't fit the diff or propshaft or something?

Celica notchback

I've seen one of these when I was out on delivery. It had obviously been sat on someone's drive for a while because the MOT history showed it as very low mileage for an early 80s car.

The best thing about it? The two tone brown/gold bodywork. Can't seem to find a pic on my phone though!

206 plus. 206 with a 207 front end

Back in 2013 I was most surprised when Europcar handed me the keys to a brand new Peugeot 206 at Charles de Gaulle airport, a car which I thought had gone out of production 3 years earlier. Other than the rather weird front end it was basically the same as the model originally launched 15 years previously.

While searching for something else, I found a copy of a press release Toyota put out ahead of the 1977 Tokyo motor show. They displayed:

The Toyota F110, 'a luxury vehicle for the 1980s'. To maximise interior space it was designed with a short nose and long body, with asymmetrical sliding doors and no b-pillars. Allegedly a six seater with a hatchback, although I can't find a decent interior picture.

image.thumb.png.82a5c6ea7251b75bfa169dad5756ed8c.png

They also had the CAL-1, a 'utility sports coupe', a bit like a Celica-based El Camino with some speedboat mixed in. It had a teak paneled rear deck with a rumble seat, and the panels were removable to turn it into a pickup. Obviously.

And lastly, the 'all-aluminium body experimental vehicle'. I mean obviously it looks terrible, but it weighed 450kg and had a 547cc twin.
