Asimo
I had pressed aluminium on several 70s / 80s cars. At one time they were easier to get as replacements than the plastic ones.
worldofceri
I love the plate on this Gibraltar reg'd VW.
worldofceri
I know you can't really make out the plate in this picture, but this old DAF must be one of the last vehicles ever supplies with pressed ally plates by the dealer. (the Sri Lankan Allegro is pretty funky too because they clearly made plates in the british large character moulded plastic digit style but with a very non english character in them!) also the borderless retroreflective square Hills plate on the Red Jaag, oof, I was just thinking the other day I wonder how a boarder-less retroreflective plate would look on @Six-cylinder's 404 to replace the awful plates it currently has LOL Id make some contributions to this thread, but id probably get shouted at given the vehicles they are attached to! skoda_fan
Holy thread resurrection! Interesting variety of fonts. Out of interest (ok, nosiness) can I ask where you've hung those as they look like they're indoors. I've had a similar idea but have resisted doing so as I've got enough signs, model cabinets and other random crap about the place already. I see you've got one for Mr LBF there! And what is QP 9725? I don't see how that's possible? I actually own several private plates relating to my name/initials or car types that I've owned, that I've bought mainly from DVLA over the years, though only a couple of them are actually on vehicles at present. MorrisItalSLX
They all live in my spare room/office/workshop/storeroom/dumping ground for tat, which they share with all my telephones, a small quantity of which are photographed above! It’s one of the joys of living on your own. I have the story of QP 9725 recorded somewhere, I think on the forum, I’ll have to track it down. I found the thread when looking for something else and thought it was way too good to leave in the past. Not sure how I missed it first time around. The style of some plate designs is a learning curve for me - use of serifs being one of the 'I'd never noticed that' moments. 2 hours ago, MorrisItalSLX said: I have the story of QP 9725 recorded somewhere, I think on the forum, I’ll have to track it down. I know its from 2014 and all that but figured its still worth an ask! even if the car aint about still hopefully the plate is nailed to someones shed door! LightBulbFun
Oh and while I am on the main computer, I guess I can post some of the shots I that I have taken which wont get me shouted at I love how this plate is being held together by ALL of the screws also not worthy in that it was one of Hill's lower end options and lacked the serifs that Hills are normally so well known for!
