Mr_Bo11ox
Has anyone ever heard a credible-sounding story of someone managing to get one of these into a leak-free condition? If so they ought to share it on here to keep Tagoras motivation topped up.
Felly Magic
New around the Ipswich area. Keep up the good work sir. Love a good S1 SD1 as well

phil_lihp
Great to see this car given some TLC, it deserves it. That yellow interior is the best thing ever.

If so they ought to share it on here to keep Tagoras motivation topped up.They pissed water in from new - the boot was first to leak. Eventually the screen would leak. I am surprised nobody from practical fishkeeping ever made an aquarium out of an SD1.
EssDeeWon
Mine was dry as a bone in the boot department, but the lower bulkhead was rather holy and leaked loads into the passenger foot well.
tooSavvy
Our Mklll Cortina used to fill up - we parked on a cambered street and the drivers side was low... I drilled a 1/8th hole in the edge of the floor and the fish died Did I read that this Rover had a 'heated wire' implanted in the [original] screen adhesive.... Autoglass hoiked up a 12V battery and lifted the lot out?? TS RichardK
spike60
My 1981 V8 had already had a boot floor some time before at about 8 years old when I had it and the drivers glovebox held about a gallon of nice refreshing water to sluice over your feet at the 1st junction of the trip. I am surprised nobody from practical fishkeeping ever made an aquarium out of an SD1. My SD1 had never leaked a drop from when it was new, but it was built in a very foreign country. Bren
I rebuilt the edge of the inner wheel arch on mine with zintec - painstaking but worth it as I got the steel for fook all. Use plenty of seam sealer between the inner and outer wheel arch otherwise you will be repeating the exercise in the near future.

phil_lihp
That's some considerable improvement on the crusty, waterlogged SD1 I last saw on Phil's driveway, nice work! I do hope the yellow velour is being kept.
jonny69
When you see the wings stripped off like that you can see why they rusted out so badly. Nice work. Are those panels available or have you had to make them?
cort16
You can still get everything for them from rim end bros. I guy local to be me replaced every panel on his other than the roof from Rimmers stock. It cost him mega$$$ The car's going to look great. I always feel a bit guilt I don't have the time or resources to reserect cars in this fashion. I'm glad you're doing it though it's going to look great. philibusmo
Damn, that's looking better than when I last saw it. I always felt guilty about not being able to do more with this car. I just never had the time or money to do the work it needed but I'm glad there hasn't been any huge nasty surprises.
EssDeeWon
Nice one Tagora - I hope the Atlantis blue paint comes out ok. Its a lovely colour, similar to Zircon blue on the P5 and P6. Please keep those original clover leaf trims and dont be tempted by some later SD1 alloys which has been done many times before. forddeliveryboy
