mk2_craig
How much shite can you spot hiding in the Jersey scrapyard? (There's at least four Fiesta Mk2s visible) (Photo taken Aug 2002) and these two abandoned Fiestas no doubt went the same way shortly afterwards, nobody would've minded my taking a few odds and sods off these Camry 'state Crumbly Iveco van that belonged to a mate and today's bonus ball, this wonderfully shite mk1 Tranner clocked at lunchtime that appears to still be in daily use. Close, the silver one appears to be a late 1980s 323 saloon. Top home appliance spotting skills though!Careful and environmentally-friendly dismantling would seem to be anathema to Jersey! mk2_craig
Few more from December. This garage usually has something of note - for many years a number of Auntie Rovers were resident becoming more and more overgrown - all cleared out a few years back but other oldish stuff often lying around including the dying Fiesta Ghia that I rescued from the back yard, fixed and re-imported to Britain. As mentioned in the Sooty Van thread - a Subaru minivan - lots of these on Jersey at one time including a surprising number of 4WD examples Think this version was named "Sumo". Bonus points for ageing wheeltrims Didn't pay much attention to this old Cherokee - probably a LHD Euro market import that's around 20 years old And opposite, a 1988-ish Espace Don't make a point of photographing Minis, but this Mayfair was nicely original. Line-up of ageing tin. The Mini has been on site as long as I can remember but never seems to deteriorate! Could well be in use - neglected to check windscreen disc. What's in between that and the Suzuki jeep?? Finally for now, seemingly abandoned UK-reg Sherpa (A-prefix plate) - sorry for the poor light, this thing looked like the 4x4 conversion

This photo was actually taken nearly ten years ago on a site long since redeveloped for housing and sad to say J7682 didn't last much longer. I shouldn't imagine the Nissan van will be around nowadays either. The Seddon Diesel badge is however in my possession as the radiator grille was found lying on the ground after the wrecker collected the vehicle. Other vehicles on site at the time included a mid 1980s Datsun Laurel, a couple of Maestros that the fire service were going to practice cutting open and a crashed engineless XR2 bodyshell that I temporarily abandoned there

pogweasel
Found another pic of this oddity at the garage. Qu'est-ce que c'est?I belive it is some kind of oddity known as a Geo Metro (or other way round!), part of the GM / Chevrolet stable Marketed in the states as a city car, it is esentially a Suzuki Swift in all but name. I've never seen a drop-top one though, and what it is doing there I do not know!
r.welfare
Hmm, 'tis odd to see one of those in Jersey. I recall from a family holiday in Florida in '92 that renting one of those little buggers was immensely popular, what with it being the cheapest convertible on the market (after the Yugo left those shores). Only 2 seats and a 1.3 engine though, so no use for outrunning Floridian muggers

mk2_craig
In the island for a week. Here's what I saw in the first few hours, enjoy!! Chased after this Colt - needn't have bothered - was the first of FOUR I saw yesterday afternoon Same story with this Camry - plenty similar examples still around Proving the point - not one but two early AXs - same lovely flat blue colour Commercial shite: Splendid late model Ford Cargo still working as a bin lorry (sounded like it was fitted with automatic transmission) Crane shite! Shifting boats onto the pier These "landtrain" things used on various tourist duties - this one rather inappropriately in my view running along the cycle track bordering St Aubin's Bay. Not sure what they're based on - Iveco Daily perhaps? Bedfraud Rascal pickup According to the insurance disc in the windscreen, this Escort van dormant since Dec 2001 - fitted with Sierra RS500 alloys Not noticed any of these around before! A JU250 according to badging Any ideas...?! Future shite colour choice - Normans builders merchants have their fleet cars painted in this non standard house yellow Millions of Minis in the place, few still stock standard like this one though And behind it another unmolested example sporting a number plate worth easily double what even the tidiest Mayfair will sell for Triumph tat, 1 Triumph tat, 2 (presumably recently imported, still carrying a UK tax disc that expired April 07, reg PDE941G) Dusty-looking 33... ...in company with a pre-Roverised Metro... ...of which there's still tons around, so the only other example worth posting is this immaculate 30k-miler. Up for sale, £1250, not for me to judge whether that's value for money Derelict R9 Wish I'd photographed this at Christmas - the bumpers were visible back then Veevah Veesah! Early Proton Nova GSi (thought the pre facelift cars were badged GTE??) and Corolla XL, which is a trim level I don't think was available through UK dealershttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01242_edited.jpg Gently deteriorating Rollerhttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01247_edited.jpg Trashed 205 XShttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01249_edited.jpg Pleasingly, this Mk1 Golf GTI looks to have last been modified in 1983 http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01252_edited.jpg Zookhttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01207_edited.jpg Charade, the 1987-on generation remains abundant herehttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01211_edited.jpg 164http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01209_edited.jpg 525ehttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01214_edited.jpg 626 estatehttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01220_edited.jpg 205 and Spacewagonhttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01216_edited.jpg Astra Club, yow!http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01228_edited.jpg Starlethttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01229_edited.jpg Timewarp 316http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01199_edited.jpg Model F (disappointingly there was an identical one parked next to it 5 mins earlier - same colour and everything!!)http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01200_edited.jpg Onionhttp://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/mk2_craig/jersey05-06-07/DSC01223_edited.jpg A photo from Boxing day. mk2_craig
Yes, though it's been a fair while since I saw a Visa droptop. Eyes peeled! Rained for much of Day 2, only got this pisspoor shot of a 505 GTI estate Day 3 was better. Lots of these late 1980s Subaru Sumo vans around. Two examples in this picture! This Harold wasn't quite shiny enough to count as a "classic" for me And neither was this Midget. Laughably, it's towbar-equipped Shite ahoy! Big Nissan thing on the pier Mazda 323, one of a fair few seen yesterday. Fine pairing of 1980s Alfa Spider and big 200-series estate. Late model Astramax complete with crumbly sills (no annual testing here remember!) Scruffy Rangey Tatty but original Audi Koop Original-bumpered Astra 'state Two Tone Toymotor Carina saloon And a hatch version, sadly damaged. Saw three of these strange Corolla 4x4 wagons that day Riva 1600SLX. Check out those wheeltrims! Entombed Maestrovan Caged mk1 XR4x4, with soft tyres and Cosworth grille Excited to see this venerable Renner 4, slightly disappointed to see what side the steering wheel is on Very nice mkIII Escort 1.6 Ghia Fiestaspotting, including better pic of the blue one snapped at night. mk2_craig
No 4WD stickers on the two Sumos shown, but there's a good few 4WD examples around. One parked down the road my parents live in, must make the effort to get a shot of it. Here's some more from the last couple of days, snapped in between catching up with friends, getting some mountain biking in and attempting to consume as much alcohol as possible. Not sure when this MGB was last used, but it's been in the same ownership for at least 20 years, if not since new. I'm delighted to see how much more of it has crumbled away each time I visit the place This TVR not moved for some years. Those rear lights are off... what? In a field behind a farm: This has been here a LONG time, I don't recognise what it is, but completely unrestorable in any case The only 2CV I've seen all week Another Caddy Rover GTi has nice cack reading glasses A survivor from a large early 1990s rental fleet of small Seats - a few Panda-based Marbellas still to be seen also Rollerskate Honda Today, yesterday Lots Of Trouble, yada yada Automatic Escy Avoided photographing this crappy cabby all week, but couldn't resist its rust streaks and wanky wheeltrims any longer This 3-series droptop is the rarer Baur conversion. 3i for good measure Domino Northern American thing Smart ol' dayvan Commer, Irish plates? If you import anything over 30 years old you have the option of having "timeless" ZV plates or the normal ones with the year and county of registration on.
