Not viewed this thread for a while.. you'd expect that 'new' shite would dry up in such a place - seems not! Great thread.

With regards to this pic, it's probably nothing exciting, but what is the yellow car on the left outside of the compound?

Cheers, Greg

Gompo, I think the yellow car to which you refer is a Fabia, or possibly a mk3 Golf. Certainly not anything rateable unfortunately!

This week's selection. I've tried to capture the mundane and ordinary. For they may appear dull today, but they will be shredded metal tomorrow!

Posted Image

I've usually ignored old Mercs, but this one looks unloved now and quasi-abandoned - been in the same position for some months now.

Posted Image

Also appearing to have been dumped is this early Tipo

Posted Image

Another big old sausage-eating motor that I've paid little attention to until now, but elderly Audis are rare here. Non-original rims, they look a bit Saab-ish to me?

Posted Image

Still on the subject of Kraut waftmobiles. This lovely beige 525e has all the look of an early 1980s Essen taxi, if you ignore the original Jacksons Garage dealer plates and rear window sticker

Posted Image

More creamy goodness, this 305 saloon doesn't seem to be in use these days.

VAUXHALLS Posted Image UNLEADED. Mk3 Cavs h8 wheeltrims

I've already bagged an Astra Club earlier in this thread. I think you could get a Belmont Club and a mk2 Cav Club too?

Posted Image

Espace Turbo DX with nice hubcaps. Did Britain get denzel powered 'spaces in the 1980s?

Posted Image

Unless the Diesel badge is a red herring, this Carina must be a rare sight.

Posted Image

Early Renner 19, I think this is the bells and whistles TXE model.

Posted Image

Nice original looking Carina estate

Posted Image

Some old Sunny-related thing

Posted Image

You could order your Alfa with bodykits of varied tastefulness.

Posted Image

Pretty looking Capri on ugly looking rims

Posted Image

Not enough of this sort of thing left on the road

These Passats are now very uncommon

Posted Image

I think this is a 323 turbo, Wuvvum have you still got one of these?

The only Montego I've seen on Jersey in the last year

My new next door neighbours own this honey

Shame if this merc gets crushed - exactly the sort of thing I'm after...

Posted Image

The E25 beemer is very nice and the Audi looks very clean too.

The last thing is a Ssang Yong Musso isn't it?? You would not really want to make one of those any more conspicuous would you!

Shame to see that very rare 323 Turbo left to rot away too...

Pre 1990 Novas are very scarce now.

A few typical seasonal-worker chariots looking semi-abandoned in this hotel car park, many Charades this style can be seen on the island.

Nice late 1980s Euro-qualitat combo

House-o-shite, despite the land it's on being worth a billion quid to developers this place is used for storing deckchairs and other assorted beach wank for the winter.

And one we haven't, seen in 2002, wonder if it's still around, looked tidy.

Finally, something old and built somewhere in England. Probably BMC rosettes all over the engine bay. Lives just round the corner from me :)

Someone asked about the MOT rules in Jersey, well, there ain't one! Unfortunatley, tthere is a catch. If you import something, not only to you have to pay a hefty sum in import duty [based on engine size, if it's less than 25 years old]] but then you are subjected to an inspection that makes the MOT seem like a walk in the park. That means that all the interesting Jersey registered stuff is far too expensive, and there's a lot of cruddy old sheds around that even a bent MOT inspector would hesitate to pass. Occasionally there's a blitz [by way of roadchecks] but as long as all the lights work, the tyres aren't bald, and the bodywork isn't too grim, you'll pass. Going back to the inspection on entry to Jersey, there seems to be an unwritten rule that anything extensively modified, wether it's safe or not, will not pass. I know, I've got the t shirt!

To elaborate, the import inspection is only a 15 minute formality for RHD vehicles under a quarter-century old - the main concern is whether the chassis number comes up as hotlisted on the Police National Computer. Left hookers require 30 mins (mainly to allow for checking headlamp alignment) and "classics" need a full day for the comprehensive Super-MoT examination.Stuff like Jap/US imports (anything without EU type approval) requires a "Certificate of Approval", similar to the UK Single Vehicle Approval test. Vehicles over 10 years old don't need this in the UK, leading to the strange situation of - for example - Nissan Figaros having been fully registered in England, but still incurring this £300-plus inspection to be registered in Jersey, much to the frustration of their owners (due to demand, the waiting list is many weeks too).

As a resident of Jersey, I'm not happy that NONE of my old nails [past or present]has appeared in your photos!

Hey, I've only been back here six months and combing every square foot of the place is going to take time... give me some clues and I'll track your tin down!

Ronda is a slushmatic. It has also covered at least 170,000 miles and is on its fourth registration number

I think there might be a Renault Espace in the pic too.

Nope, guess again. Right country though
