Hi, and welcome. I've always liked that shape of Audi Avant - seems to combine all the least practical attribbutes of both hatchback and estate - brilliant! Had a Quattro one myself for a short while a couple of years back. One of the best sounding car engines ever, I reckon. Yours has got to be one of the very last though, on a J plate? Love the Jetta too - I had one of those for years. Huge fun to drive, and not as "scene" as the Mk1 Golf, which is a big advantage as far as I'm concerned...

Welcome ayd :D are you down in the Westcountry to? I can't think of anywhere else in the Country where someone would have a tractor in thier driveway

right on the West Coast of WalesThe Audi is great and was a lucky find after the Cavalier (also £250) gave up the ghost after 18 months of loyal service, it does handle a bit like a canal barge though and can be a handful in the wet but all in all no creaks or rattles and it'll plough around quite happily

The Renault that was already on the lorry was a runner and had MOT, apparently the owner had had it up for sale and no one wanted it so he scrapped it, I did make the driver an offer for it but the destruction order had already been signed (he even started it up to prove it was a runner) we then sat around for an hour or so discussing the advantages of bangernomics :D

wuvvum - it is one of the last on a J and did cause a bit of an argument with an online shop when I bought brake pads and tailgate struts for it recently, they were adamant there was no such thing as a Mk2 100 on a J plate and they were the specialists and were correct and I was wrong and ordering the wrong parts etc........one quick emaied picture later and they apologised :D

Welcome Ayd, I concur with the board view that the 100 is a cracker and a hell of a buy for 250 sheets. Is it a manual or auto though? I hear the autoboxes are prone to self-destruct...but with 70k up you've probably got another 130k miles to do before it does...Shame 'bout the Cav, I had one of them a few months back on a K-plate, a 1.6. Great car for the money (£58!) but the usual Vauxhall paradox - good engine looking for a decent chassis. I drove an '02 Astra earlier this week while my 405 was being overhauled and that was exactly the same!Seems odd that someone would throw away a perfectly usable 19 Chamade but that's life I guess.

That's very sad! What was wrong with the Cav? Shame about that too, but the Renault......nothing wrong with it - what a waste! Was he paid for scrapping it? Because I'd rather give it away to be used rather than have it destroyed. That's like those greyhound racers that put dogs down that don't make the grade because they want them gone :x

The Audi is a beauty and very rare to find tidy 70s/80s/even early 90s Audis!

Nice Audi, I remember selling the saloon version of that a few years ago to a guy who was absolutely obsessed with it, he knew nothing about them but just had to have it.Must have been some sort of "Christine" moment when he saw it. (although it was fairly tidy as opposed to a derelict)

The Cavalier is perhaps too recent to be a huge loss but the back arches are disturbingly straight and clean looking, I`d like to have seen them half gone and the rest blistering like they usually are.

Funny you should mention the greyhound racers, I took in an abandoned (but very healthy) racing greyhound about the same time I bought the Chrysler 180 off the guy who was going to sell it to the banger lads. Still trying to work out why anyone would want to be shot of either of them.

my apologies cortinadave but thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The Cav exploded in a hail of terminal smoke, never bothered to find the exact cause but imagine shaking conrods in a metal bucket and you get the idea. Body was pretty straight but hey ho it was only a Cavalier, the scrap people recycle them or something and will collect it and give you £25.

Up here they are paying £100 at the moment.. scrap price is high. I scrapped a 93 cavalier a month or so back too.. 1.7 Turbo diesel... good bodywork but it belonged to my missus' mum who had lost the keys. i burst the steering lock off it and drove it to the scrappy with a screwdriver to start it  I offered it on the cavalier forums for £50 but no one was biting.. apart from one guy who said he would give me £50 if i delivered it to him in sheffield! - twat.
