Drive away for £200, the cheapest of cheap shite thread

Sloth in a bowl

Recommended Posts

We all like a bit of autoshite window shopping and I have noticed that the bottom of the market seems to be creeping down in price over the last 12 months.

So here is a thread just for cars that you could buy and drive away for £200 or less.

My basic rules are:

Must have Tax

Must have MoT

Must be in a working condition to drive home (even if no further)

Max price £230 to allow for a genuine haggle down to £200

First up is this beauty complete with all Vauxhalls are shit credibility, possibly in its ultimate form.

It's sexy, it's glamourous, it's...

a grey Escort.  But it is a mere £175 with a bit of T&T and no obvious problems, other than the rather large one of being a grey 1991 Ford Escort.

Now, to me, that is sex on wheels.

Hang on, hang on, hang on.

A wonky windscreen washer jet or an inconveniently placed window sticker can get you an MOT fail, yet that Mondeo is safe*?

I'm not sure that safe is the right word, but it would be legal* to drive home.

You could always take a few cardboard boxes and some duct tape and fix the exposed wiring issue.

Ether that is stunning or it has an extra 200,000 miles on the clock that nobody is talking about.

Given the look of it, I think it is genuine.

The Escort does seem too good to be true, doesn't it?

I see your V-reg Punto with 2 days' MOT and raise you a nearly-as-new Swift with a whole 8 days MOT plus it comes with a genuine fail sheet.

Puntos do seem to make up the majority of the sub-£250 T&T selection box.  I wonder why.

'We bought this car last year with a full MOT which turned out to be questionable to say the least. Don't buy a car from the person who put the MOT on it.'

Now they tell me.

I'm a bit suspicious that this one would be a right old money pit after the first week of ownership was over though.
