VW Sciroco: http://www.italdesign.it/progetto/volkswagen-scirocco You can tell he really liked his Hatchbacks. So was the early Passat. Hyundai asked it to be name the Pony Coupe, at the last minute, as it was built on on the floor pan of a Hyundai Pony. Five years later, they built the Piazza prototype, and called it the "Asso Di Fiori". Dick Longbridge

ItalDesign's namesake:1982 Morris Ital L 69-RGJ-1 by Stollie1, on Flickr Harris Mann designed this facelift, ItalDesign merely oversaw getting it into production . But ARG got away with stating that ItalDesign designed the Ital hence its moniker - cheeky buggers!! Regards the Pony, ever notice how it looks like a Marina Coupe from some angles (rear 3/4 view, for example)?? George Harriman (from memory) left BLMC in '72 to oversee Hyundai beginning to produce cars - with the paper designs for the Marina Coupe rolled under his arm, by some accounts... George Harriman (from memory) left BLMC in '72 to oversee Hyundai beginning to produce cars - with the paper designs for the Marina Coupe rolled under his arm, by some accounts... Nearly correct ☺️ It was George Turnbull which went to Hyundai to oversee the Pony's development. Not only did he take the Marina blueprints.. but also some of the body engineering team too! After Hyundai.. he then went to Khodro in Iran in the late 70s to improve productivity in Paykan production....and then on to Talbot in the UK where he shut down Linwood in 1981. It's amazing to think though that a car like the Marina had such a massive influence on the beginning of what now is the global phenomenon of Korean car production. Guigaro did a great job on that Mk1 pony.

Braddon81
The Mk1 k10 Micra is reputedly an Ital designed car that was offered to Fiat and rejected as an original proposal for its 127 replacement which of course eventually became the Uno.
