eddyramrod
An old friend has come to visit me this weekend and attend tomorrow's show with me. We've had a joyous hour or so riding around locally in my MR2 and he's fallen in love with it. So much so, he wants to buy it. Obviously I've given him a special price! BUT... in order to pay me, he needs to sell his Fiesta. ^That's it there. W reg, year 2000. 1.3 engine so cheap tax, and the tax currently on it runs to the end of August. MoT is much shorter but Dave says he will put 12 months on it for the lucky buyer. He's just driven it from Southport to Barrow, and plans to drive it back on Monday, so it's fit enough. He actually hasn't had it long but upon buying, had it serviced and a set of new tyres fitted. There's a file of bills for previous work that's been done in its past. Mileage stands at about 83,000. Dave wants 550 please. I don't want to air his phone number here but you can PM me. He will negotiate.... Skizzer
Partridge
That could certainly do somebody a good turn with 12 months test on it. It's doom blue which is always a plus. eddyramrod
Jim Bell
Its not the 1.3 Zetec 8v engine is it? Theyre awesome.
Lacquer Peel
Isn't it a 'Duratec' or something, with roots back to the Kent engine?
ShiteRider
I've got the same car as a daily workbus, tough little buggers. I get around 340 miles to a tank (costs around £40 to fill) .They feel very much like an older car to drive, but not in a bad way. As long as it's not too rotten it should provide years of faithful service to someone. eddyramrod
eddyramrod
Someone more ""up" on Ford engines than I am would need to pronounce on that... sorry. Don't think Dave knows either, he usually buys bigger cars but felt a need to downsize.
trigger
If its the 1.3 then it's basically the Ford Ka engine like LP says, hardy but hardly the last word in refinement.
holbeck
Aye, the 1.3 of that vintage is the OHV Valencia (nee Kent) engine. Duratec was the new name dreamt up by the marketing men, but it's the same lump. Not the most refined, but it'll get there, and without a lot of the maladies of other motors. eddyramrod

eddyramrod
I put in a last-minute bid on the Buick, but someone outbid me anyway. Just as well really, as I haven't got the money to pay for it yet!
eddyramrod
Dave's got a buyer on his Fiesta, so it looks like I won't have an MR2 after next Thursday. I'm open to offers of something I can use for commuting and take to classic-car shows, at this kind of budget...... Not expecting much, am I!!! eddyramrod
LOL! I might, I've long wanted one, but I'm a bit wary of this one from looking at the boot contents and the very carefully rationed information.
