The edge of the slam panel was also a bit rusty and rather than change the whole slam panel I hatched a plan to save a shit load of work.

I used a plasma disc and snecked through the the end of the panel and drilled out the spot welds and cleaned up the rust from the front of the inner wing.

I then measured a few reference points and scribbled them on the panel before cutting out the rust, It was a simple case of cut the new repair section half an inch larger,

I used my jodders to step the panel ready for the repair section, what they do is crimp the metal to just the right depth so the two pieces mate up flush on the outside, I originally bought these to fill in the crappy cheep sunroof on a Tr7 but I've found myself using them constantly for years now,

It was then a simple case of clamp the repair section in place weld in once I was happy with the measurements and buff it down afterwards.

Ive just noticed i forgot to take pics of fitting the wing rails so you will just have to imagine that part,

I drilled holes all the way down the wing and lined it up, after what seemed like all week jiggling the wing I had it clamped into a place I was reasonably happy and plugged away.

I welded each corner then and the slam panel and kept plugging away until bingo I had the damn thing finished.

The wing was pretty damn awkward to get the lines right, I have all the swage lines perfect but the curve at the wing top below the windscreen is not a very good fit, the curve just didn't want to line up,

the wings came from here.

So that's one side done but guess what I have the other side to do next.
