The days when the M1 was so quiet, the police pulled each other over for something to do.

And got out to take photographs after summoning a helicopter. They really did have more time on their hands.

1973 Oil Crisis probably - I don't think it's the 'quad' Green Shield stamps causing the queue. Nice old Porsche and what looks like an XK Jaguar at the pumps.

Kensitas fag ad too. The photo is taken in Beehive Lane - Ilford N. E. London.  So it's a bit of a 'snapshot' of what suburban Londoners were driving (and smoking) at the time.

Petrol station now closed - so 'quad stamps' are no more. But the 'Jet' petrol station in the distance is still there.

Kamikaze doors surely.

Mitsubishi Minica is what it is.

Indeed, an early (1962) Minica.

The four tiny coupes are Mazdas (R360), the estate car is another Cony product (Light Van), the two door saloons are P10 series Toyota Publicas,  the two tone saloon with a roof rack is a Bluebird, and behind it is a 410 Bluebird, which is the newest model in this picture (introduced in 1964).

The picture shows a Japanese driving school in, presumably, the first half of the 1960s.
