And another picture of Pat Moss and Ann Wisdom found at https://www.mgcc.co.uk/ann-riley-nee-wisdom-an-appreciation/

I remember well the restoration of this car in Practical Classics rather a long time ago.  I am somewhat reassurred to see that as it has recently sold for £45K that it will be well looked after.  That's a lot of dsoh for an old A40, though I always thought that it was an amazing car, so far ahead of its time.

Yep, introduced in the very first edition of Practical Classics in May 1980

Introduced in 1963, given a larger engine a year later, becoming the Glas 1700, and discontinued in Europe following BMW's takeover of Glas in 1966.

Subsequently produced in South Africa as the BMW 1800SA and also assembled in Rhodesia as the BMW Cheetah.

She's gone! And the toon council have reversed the one way. Wise, Speke were bought by Brewin Dolphin in 1998 but still have offices in the toon.

As far as I can work out, this was a raffle prize promoting Gauloises.  Spricht irgendjemand Deutsch?  The caption on the back of the photo reads:

Quote

Truck-Ente

Daily Telegraph photo dated 6 June 1989 - on the back it says:

"Life begins at 40" and the Morris Minor Owners Club is celebrating the Minor's 41st year with a National Rally at Kebworth Park, Hertfordshire on (17- 18th June).  Over 800 owners will gather with these postwar Clasics.
