Anyone know what the American looking coupe is?

I'd guess it's a Packard coupe, c. 1940 with its distinctive edge to the bonnet line.    .. perhaps a 2nd word war-spec one without much chrome. ?

Armstrong Siddeley Lancaster is a good call.  Need to compare some pics I think.

Some of the pics are maybe 'too gritty' and were never meant to be top quality, but that's just how they are.  Personally I much prefer old street pics to staged ones or ones taken at car shows. There are  some more early 60s but I had to stop looking at Manchester pics for a few days when I couldn't get that 'Matchstalk Cats And Dogs' song out of my head.  Woke up in the middle of the night hearing it, it was driving me insane. Loved the Lowry paintings but hated the song, hated it when I was 10 and the situation hasn't improved any. Wouldn't have heard of Lowry at that time otherwise though.
