JeeExEll
Same location as Ford / Victor pic on previous page. Manley Road, Manchester in 1964. Number 195. Empty road. Almost. Google Streetview Maps shows plastic windows and modern clutter. artdjones, RayMK, Shite Ron and 1 other

JeeExEll
Packard! Yes. I'd been trying upmarket cars like Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Chrysler, De Soto, etc from 1936 - 39 but had completely forgotten about Packard. It looks a real moonshine-runner. Richard_FM
I was thinking it would be something Dick Tracy would drive. I wonder how it got over here, maybe someone started bringing them over in the 1950s when they would have been cheap as chips in the USA. I think it's an Armstrong Siddeley Lancaster, 1949/50 ish. Great series of photos BTW. HMC, JeeExEll and Amishtat

JeeExEll
Armstrong Siddeley Lancaster is a good call. Need to compare some pics I think. Some of the pics are maybe 'too gritty' and were never meant to be top quality, but that's just how they are. Personally I much prefer old street pics to staged ones or ones taken at car shows. There are some more early 60s but I had to stop looking at Manchester pics for a few days when I couldn't get that 'Matchstalk Cats And Dogs' song out of my head. Woke up in the middle of the night hearing it, it was driving me insane. Loved the Lowry paintings but hated the song, hated it when I was 10 and the situation hasn't improved any. Wouldn't have heard of Lowry at that time otherwise though. HMC and Amishtat 1
