Thorn Precinct's where almost always wall mounted and although there was a 76Mm column mounting kit available for them, you never seen them on a large concrete column like that normally! Working close to the Fleet Street-based newspapers, through subsidiary companies they expanded into export packing, established an early computer centre, ran a travel shop, were a successful general printer, were innovators in shrink wrapping, and at one stage had ownership of the Sellotape brand. They had a book division, sold general merchandise abroad, and marketed the Duplex Print Machine worldwide. Based at several addresses over their history in the City near Fleet Street including 75-79 Farringdon Street, the firm also had an export warehouse at Plaistow and offices at Scrutton Street. In the 1970s the firm became part of the Hachette Gotch Limited group of companies. Hachette Gotch Limited was renamed International Press Distributors in 1985 and wound down in the 1990s.
