It is mat I had a smile on my face as wide as Lisa Riley's arse when I drove it

I had a day off from working on the escort rs turbo today so I thought I'd start building my bottom end up I had previously checked tolerances so it was a literal clean and piece together in my "engine room"

I popped down the bodyshop today to weld the corner of my tailgate, they always corrode under the seal and this was the only corrosion on the tailgate and it wasn't much at all, I forgot to take a before picture

Popped up to see my mate yesterday and there's a little progress in between jobs flatting more of the paint off, he did admit it's taking him quite a while though as for some reason the sanding discs aren't whizzing through the paint easily, any progress is good though in my eyes

There's the man himself in the background of the first picture mopping a bonnet

He said to me leave the Boot lock for the time being but it will be coming off

Well today I got a call from the chap I know who was welding the head for me to let me know it's ready, I popped up and collected

The areas of corrosion on the exhaust side water jackets where he took it back before welding

And as luck has it my machinist was up there so I literally paid the cash and gave the head to the machinist who took it away with him, happy days next time I see it it will be skimmed and as good as new im having him check out the valve seats and guides while he has it and replace if neccesary

Some paint really is a bugger to shift with sanding discs for some reason, I've had it where it just sort of melts and smears about rather than sanding off and when you hit it with anything else it seems to have taken on the resilience of granite.  Paint is weird stuff.

Popped up to see my pal today and oh my the progress has certainly come along, it's took him forever to get rid of most of the old paint but it's almost there now, I whipped the aerial off while I was there its the only bit of paint left on the roof

Well he got sick of taking paint off (theres only that small amount left on the boot anyway) so the filler work has started

He has also re instated the door lock hole for me as I realised what a Muppet I had been removing the locks all those years ago
