According to the guy bringing them over it's not unusual for the guys finding the cars to blow them over two or three at a time.....outside....in the sun....and the flys....and sand.

Hence why most things coming over are similar pastel shades regardless of age and make.

Ive a weakness fro the early mk3 Cortina's with the slope down dash; I remember as a lad of about 7 years of age, I used to play in the uncle's 'spares mk3 tina' donor for his later facelifted one - I think he got it for free or very near to that... much preferred the early one; also my dad brought my younger back from the hospital in a yellow early mk3 Cortina, but he had no luck with it "never buy a car in the dark" etc etc n that was one of the handful of trips when he had it running well- it sat outside for months, years even, n he hates us even mentioning it....  loving these pics tho - full of memories...

  • 5 months later...

I tried buying this red mk3 but Nathan, the lad selling it wanted 4 grand......he got told to FRO.

Then many realisations where had, i owned multiple projects which i just wasn't getting time to work on.

Lack of shite mojo and general malaise at life meant it was time to clear the decks and save up and just have one decent hobby car and one decent daily. Don't get excited yet, neither has been acheived.

I can't be bothered selling stuff on ebay in general, but after past experience trying to sell cars on it and having to deal with weapons grade fuds i went a different (and new to me) way. Facebook......

I don't have a facebook account myself but a mate listed the two scabbiest cortinas on some abandoned old shite page,

The saloon went to a banger racer from coventry who kept all the good bits (it went with a load of panels) and sold it on soon after.

The estate was bought by a middle aged wiganer (who also flipped it for a small profit ) who said he was after a project, didn't want any extra bits, even the ones specifically for that car which turned out well for me as i made more off them than i did the car.

So space was made and money recieved, but then came the crisis point i didn't want to get rid of the beige car as it was so mint and virginal which also meant i didn't like using it in winter. So it sat.... I had a for sale thread on here i'd put no effort into updating facebook had proved itself to me to be another arsehole magnet so i spread the word out in the trade and it soon found itself sold.

Your probaly wondering why so many photos of a car i now no longer own.... I don't know myself to be honest, catharsis maybe. I think it'll probaly spend the next couple of years bouncing around ebay for an asking price it'll never justify which would be shame and a waste of a good car but at the same time i did 6000 miles in 5 years and never even taxed it since the last mot so have done it no better. At least now there's more of a chance of it finding a better home.

It's a bit late showing us it now after it's sold,Did the doctor buy it then.

No i guy i know who specialises in salvage light commercials, it's a bit of nostalgia for him.

To be honest i hate selling anything as i really don't like dealing with people and this was very easy as he already knows the car and the price was good.

Daily duties have generally been performed by the vectra of much brokeness

post-5712-0-12367700-1489954230_thumb.jpg

Which replaced the fiesta of much rustiness, which now probaly cocoons the beans in your cupboard.

post-5712-0-24449200-1489954355_thumb.jpg

The vectra has done everything asked of it and more.....including killing its DMF.

This has become a slippery slope of spending that has included a brake pedal master as well as full clutch and flywheel kit, full cambelt and pully kit, water pump, thermostat, full service and god knows what else.

All it needs now is most of the suspension replaced.......

Due to it frequent ramp time i thought of purchasing a second daily (only here would that make sense)

As luck would have it this fiesta turned up at the right time for cheeps

Which has now been handed over to my mum as a runabout after bailing me out the shit for a week.

I'm happy with what i got. I could of put on ebay for say 3.5k then kept relisting it every month for a year knocking 250 a time off all the while constantly dealing with dickheads.

It's perspective i suppose. I paid £1300 for it five years ago and have enjoyed it ever since and it has cost relatively little to maintain. To my mind that's five years of fun motoring for free.
