Just went to move Meg to put the 944 on the drive and she's dead Jim. Fuxake. Clocks ticking but nobodys home. A job for another day. Just took her for a spin yesterday. 

Just pushed her back a bit so the Porsche would fit. Pretty sure I ain't set fire to owt I shouldn't have. 

Got in the 944 and the friggin batterys flat anyway as the bastard boots leaked again. 

Shitty bums.

Well, it being a Sunday and having got back from the workshop having fiddled with my own visa today, I decided to finally read Meg the visa thread from start to finish. 

i am not disappointed, I fact I am very pleased. You've done a cracking job with Meg these last few years Mr HillmanImp, hats off to you.

Meg had sat on the drive since my last post. All the RED HOT VISA ACTION on here over the last couple of months has spurred me on to get her back on the road as theres no real reason to keep her off it other than laziness. 

Started first time after a 10 seconds of turning over. 

Dragged her down to the garage for some fresh fuel and took her for a quick spin and grabbed a few scenic shots.

Imp Jr is going to give me a hand checking all the obvious things before wanging it in for an MOT in the next couple of weeks. 

After I'd parked her back at home I took the Porsche for some fuel too and a spin too. It tried making that literal as it was absolutely determined to try and kill me today with the back end all over the place and the wheels lighting up everytime I put my foot down. Think it must be the roads, unless I've changed my driving style dramatically after using the Legacy for the last few weeks.

Imp Jr just helped check it over. Just a broken brake light. Hopefully sorted but it's a dodgy fitting so needs a bit of fettling every now and then. Its working now though, so thats good enough for me. 

Going to book it in for its MOT one day this week I think. 

Parking is such an issue in Leeds now though I cant do it at lunch, it has to be in the afternoon as if I leave my space there won't be any left when I get back at my usual car park so its got to be after work. All the empty spaces that were car parks have offices on them now.

Posted a photo of it on the  Citroën Car Club Facebook page. Couple of people that had owned Meg before commented. 

This one was interesting, I knew about the Deer but wasn't aware of the others.

Funnily enough, Imp Jr was asking about the hole in the bonnet today and I was telling him about the deer which was mentioned earlier in this thread. 

I assumed the deer caused the damage down the side of the car too but apparently not, it was a separate incident.

Normally its nicer to find history that isn't related to all the crash damage but I know what you mean ;)

There seems to have been a lot of owners of Meg in a relatively short time. 

As I've said elsewhere I went to look at a Pug 406 coupe in Keighley once and the chap selling it used to own her too. 

Hopefully will stay put for a fair while here.

Hmm, same again today. Glad I didn't book her in for the MOT last week. 

Cars got power, all the lights are lit up but just getting a whirrrurrr. No clicking, so not the starter, so I reckon its the starter solenoid that sits on top although, writing this the solenoid is whirring just not engaging the starter so it might be that. Let me do some googling. 

Just as well I didn't book it in for its MOT last week. 

Will have to see if I can get one ordered.

When my old Triumph Dolomite’s starter solenoid was playing up (same sounding issue as yours) it always used to work if I rocked the car slightly back and forth. So I used to stick my leg out the drivers door and push back wards and nearly always it would engage and go. That might not work but worth a try maybe?

I'd tried that as hitting stuff with hammers is my go to response to something not working but its not the starter motor thats clunking like its stuck, the solenoid is just whirring. Not sure if thats because the starter is absolutely goosed or powers not getting to it. 

The whole unit (starter and solenoid) looks pretty cheap so I'll pick one up, Wheeler Dealer styleee, doing a replacement rather than attempting to repair the broken part.

Oh, just went to post on this thread and see I was having issues with the starter three years ago, it's not a new thing.

It did it last week too. Could've just looked on here to know whats wrong. 😂

Anyhow, as mentioned on the news 24 thread, I decided to sort out a bit of rust today. This required me removing the o/s wing. 

In order to get to one of the bolts, I needed to remove the bumper. 

Unfortunately, once I had got the bumper off I found this.

Taken quite a whack that. 

Its not actually attached on the o/s mounting, it had completely rotted through. The bolt was still attached to the car when I took it off.

Once I got the wing off I was greeted by this:

It ain't meant to be see through. 

Left a bit if a mess on the floor.

All in all though, its not bad. There are a few bits that have gone rusty where the rust protection has cracked but on the whole its not bad. Imagine all of it would be rotten if it wasn't for someones hard work covering it in this sticky shit.

Bit here at the end of the sill will need doing too.

So on this side, its just the bit next to the light, the sill end, bit on top of the inner wing behind the light and a couple of bits at the bottom of the inner wheel arch. 

Could be worse. 

Lobbed some rust inhibitor and painted it later on once I'd dug around and prodded everywhere.

Currently sat like this waiting for me to fire up my welder.

Front crossmember is rusty but salvageable, will just give that a sand and a lick of paint. 

Weather looks gash tomorrow, so I'm probably gonna go for a bike ride round Gisburn forest instead of this but if we get a good run of weather, I'll hopefully be able to crack on with this fairly quickly. 

ImpJr is expecting it as his first car in 9 years time, so I'd best get on with it.

Unexpected break in the weather today, so got out and did some work on Meg.

Not the neatest job but better than what was there. 

Just a couple of bits that I may as well do whilst the wings off that Id normally just treat and paint and then a bit of tidying up on bits that have started to go a bit rusty and this side of the front is done. 

Not getting too excited until I see what awaits me on the other side.
