FFS I really hate this piece of shit car did a leak of test this and got these results:

Does this mean the injectors are all ok? Or could on still be knackered but pass a leak off test?? The test was done with the engine cold and then started and run for about 10 minutes.

So so confused

Just put a second hand set of injectors in a kangoo 1.5 dci , they wouldn't code in . Got it running , ran very rough ,lots of smoke , stopped and started it lots of times lots of revs etc and smoke has cleared and runs nice and smooth . Think yours will be ok once you get it run up the road

I would say that points to them being ok. Does the clip give any fault codes ? I would take the injectors out and check the seals if it isn't that then a compression test is next the injectors in the 1.9 are pretty reliable compared to the 1.5. Did you use your injector pump or the one on the donor engine. I think that there are some of these that need to have the pump set when you change the belt. I know on the laguna it doesn't matter where the pump sits but have a sneaking feeling the megane may have a mark. If it makes you feel any better I have put 3 engines in my megane trying to get it running reliably and the poxy thing still isn't on the road

I was thinking of just giving it a run but there's so much smoke I don't think a run will clear it. The other problem is apart from the smoke it idles and revs ok

No fault codes on clip. I used the injection pump on the replacement engine, I changed the timing belt before I fitted the engine, I made marks on the pump pulley just in case, but I noticed when turning the engine over to check the belt tension that my mark soon moved out of alignment with TDC so I can only assume it is just that a pump.

Well I took it for a drive up and down the street a few times today, and marvelled at how it left a small weather system of smoky clouds behind it. :(

Decided had enough of this so made an appointment with a diesel specialist in the next town. I got the OH to follow me to try and stop anyone stuck behind me reporting me for driving whilst being on fire.

When we got to the industrial park where the garage was I jumped out and gave it a rev and it was clear!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe it a good run seems to sorted it out, all I need to do now is sell it before something else breaks on it.

Its certainly been an experience I won't forget

Well it's still leaking oil, going to try one of those seal treatments you get. Also took it for its mot today where it failed on the following:

1. head light aim (tight bastards, normally they just adjust this, obviously want another £12 out of me)

2. broken N/S coil spring (didn't notice this when had the front apart will check tomorrow)

3. steering lock not engaging

With regards to the steering lock from reading this:

It should have been an advisory not a fail??????

It wouldn't be a megane if it passed first time and didn't give you grief. Well done for getting it going sounds like it had an exhaust full of oil. That usually only happens when the turbo lets go. I did have to sort a scenic out for a trader a couple of weeks ago. He bought it as a trade in and it smoked as soon as you went up the road. Turned out it had a turbo blow and the previous owner fitted a secondhand turbo. I ended up fitting a new exhaust as it was never going to burn off. I really must finish off the hateful piece of junk megane that has been sitting in my yard for the last 2 years. Everytime I fix it something else goes wrong horrid thing !!

Just to close this:

1. steering lock: it initially failed the mot because it was almost engaging, I pulled the unit out from under the steering column and knocked the locking pin completely in, so this was changed to an advisory saying 'steering lock removed' on the retest

2. crank shaft seal oil leak: my dad's friend in america send me some stuff there that gets a great write up, I must post up the name, because bugger me it actually worked!

After a variety of annoying time wasters I managed to sell it for £200 less than what I initially paid for it. I don't want to think about the other loses such as the small matter of the replacement engine, new clutch, ecu software, my soul
