londonm
I was in Lisbon a little while back and saw this in the street. It really threw me because I can't remember the last time I saw a Mk1 Escort Estate, it may have been the Eighties. Anybody else snapped something that was once as common as muck but is now probably as rare as hens teeth with a price tag to match? And how much would this be worth in the UK now? phil_lihp
Escorts in general - they all seem to have vanished after years of lining every side of the street. I remember seeing a lot of Estelles and Maxis around in the early nineties, they weren't even worth a second glace back then but I don't remember seeing an example of either model actually out on the road for a long time. phil_lihp
I'd guess the vast majority of these have been eaten by rust rather than mechanical failure, especially the BLs and Fiats.

londonm
Junkman, which High Street is that with its little Halfords store? And is that a Farina A40 like the one my folks had exiting stage left? Note the absence of parking restrictions, and shops thriving with business in the days before moronic local councils worked out they could fund their pensions by wrecking High Street trade. warren t claim

Vince70
A friend of a friend has just bought a mk2 escort estate and turned it into a Mk1 as he couldn't find the real thing, well not in price or condition anyway. The only basic difference on the estate is the front panels and dash so he bought a couple of Mexico fibreglass front wings and front panel and had it repainted. The only thing even the basic Mk2s are selling for a kings ransom so there is no cheap way of owning a MK1/2 anymore. John F
E30 BMWs used to be *everywhere*, now they're actually distinctive. Can't remember the last time I saw a 1980s Honda Civic. I did see a pristine Mk II Escort van in white recently, I immediately got an erection and had to sit down for a moment.

beko1987
There was a Mk2 astra being sold by the local pie keys for £200 last month, and driving past it I realised I'd not seen any for years! My grandad owned one, so I know how dire they are/were, but was tempted for £200. Thankfully it went before I could get the money. Micrashed
Back in 1990 every single student nurse in Manchester drove a Mk 2 Fiesta (except Julie who had a turd brown Metro and Suzanne who had the Dishatsu)It was the law or something. I myself had a red Mk2.
vulgalour
These 323s seemed to disappear overnight. I quite like them, I expect they're nice enough to live with too. gary_davidson
Kia MentorI had one of those, didn't even make it to it's 5th birthday after the timing belt snapped putting a fairly large hole in the block. It had done 115k miles so not a bad innings but I couldn't get a second hand engine and a new one was more than the car was worth. There's one near me in green that I see every now and again though. vulgalour
I just remembered another one. Usually in a weird metallic pink or pure white, just like the following, on whitewalls. I think it was the first Kia to come to the UK or something so they tarted it up as though they were trying to sell it to the Singapore home market or something.
