The Reverend Bluejeans
Hmmm. Saw one in detail today as a customer rocked up in one. It's quite neat and appears to be very well finished. Basically like an Audi A1 only without the wankerous four rings. I'm sure he said it was nine grand which doesn't seem too dear.
CreepingJesus
One turned across the road in front of me this morning. My panic braking brought one thing into focus: they are actually quite small, aren't they? Christ on a bike...a contemporary small car that's actually small? Whatever next... Cavcraft
Talking to a bloke supposedly 'in the know' about these recently. He tells me the biggest problem is they can't get the emissions down enough to qualify for free VED and says that's holding back sales. *And obviously I would buy one. Mash
I have only seen a couple of them on the road so far and I do like the look of them which coming from me as a confirmed hater of anything new is a revelation. Definitely Aud iA1/Fiat 500-ish in the vein of these "funky" little cars everyone is doing these days but, yeah, probably would.

But I like it - not my cup of tea, but it's sort of car i 'd like the Mrs to have and I'd gladly use it. Retail starts at 11k so matey's 9k one was probably ex demo. I'm seeing loads around Sheffield so they're not doing too badly. Good to see Voxall getting back on it's feet with some smart looking cars. Albert Ross
I work for a Vauxhall dealer. All Vauxhalls are shit. But I would buy an Adam. There. Said it. But it would have to be a touch more powerful than the current offerings. By about another 40-50bhp. THEN it would be fun. It's a great chassis spoilt by lacklustre performance. Pillock
Only thing is, if they ever do a VXR version they'll probably ruin the looks by putting on 18" wheels, a big daft bodykit and making it all LOOKATMEI'MFUCKINHARDIAM. Like the Corsa. I quite like 'em. Probably would.

Looking at the location of the 'Griffin' badge suggests to me the Vx version was an afterthought. Also the name 'Adam' has zero relevance to the UK market, as it is the name of the founder of Opel. I am really struggling to see the point of the car, after all GM offer the Agila, Corsa, Meriva and Mokka in the small car section!
Mr_Bo11ox
Its basically a snazzy looker innit to get folk to pay more for a posh small car, i.e. get them out of their minis, Fiat 500's etc, I guess they will try to sell you all kinds of personalisation options when you buy one. cort16
The derivative names of The Jam, the Glam and the Slam is enough to make me never want to own one. What's wrong with a good old fashioned GL? warren t claim
Cavcraft
I'm waiting for the Wham, Bam Thankyou Mam version. I agree with Bol, they're just to get you out of a 500 or Mini and I think they've pretty much copied the 'new' Citroen DS, with snazzy colour schemes and sort of 'cute' looks. pompei
Albert Ross
18" wheels are already an option. They are built with bits of Fiat 500 floorpan. The Agila is a 5 door aimed at blind pensioners. The Corsa is NOT a small car anymore. The Mokka is not a small car either. The Adam options list is bewildering to a point of confusion. If it were to be made a VXR, it would fly off the shelves. pompei
cort16
I'm not a fan of the Adams looks. It looks good in pictures but it looks a bit odd in some angle in real life. I think the Astra GTC is well fit. Defo the best looking Vauxhall model I'd maybe even have one over a Vectra C 1.8LS.
vulgalour
Having browsed an Adam brochure I was impressed at how much like an American 70s brochure it was for mad options like the dash graphics and the ridiculous colour schemes you could inflict on them. If (and it's a big if) I were in the market for a new small car the Adam is probably the one I'd go for, in all honesty, they're not too offensive. Albert Ross
I serviced a 60 plate Ka the other day. It has a Fiat FIRE engine.... Also, they have the 1248cc Fiat diesel, the Multijet thingy... as fitted to Corsa models near you.
Justin Case
I've only seen one and it looked a bit, er .......anonymous for something touted as a fashion accessory. If I were in the market for a small fashion accessory I would go for a Nissan Juke, just like everyone else (isn't that what fashion's about )
Richard
Was there talk of GM taking over Fiat a couple of years ago or did I imagine that?

RedSparrow
Was there talk of GM taking over Fiat a couple of years ago or did I imagine that? I'd be surprised. I recon Fiat must be in better financial shape than GM.
The Reverend Bluejeans
Fiat only has one car that sells in the UK in proper numbers, the 500. It's about their only big seller. The Chrysler Epilepsy was a huge flop.

CreepingJesus
No, I think there was some talk of GM taking over Fiat a few years back: it was when the post-Agnelli wobbles happened, and was deemed to be ultra-aggressive on GM's part. Was all rumours and speculation in the end.
Mr_Bo11ox
They got pretty far into bed, there was a GM-Fiat powertrain company set up, then it went a bit wobbly and fell apart.
Vin
Fiat activated a clause in the agreement that GM would have to buy them outright. GM said no way, so paid Fiat 2 billion dollars in order to go their seperate ways...
alf892
They 'share' some engines already. and Corsa is Fiat based. New Combo van is the (quite old!) Doblo. Mind you same van now comes with a Merc badge on it. More interbreeding than a fenland village........... M'coli
John F
The last small GM car I liked enough to own was the C-Kadett. Mine was a 1.2S and once managed 180 km/h on ze Autobahn, a terrifying experience I never repeated. Its handling at more appropriate speeds was ace for what it was though, much like its Mk 2 Escort rival. I didn't mind the Nova much, I suppose, but not enough to want one. Since then? Meh. All Voxalls (except Cavs, Calibras, Monaros, Lotus Carltons, Firenzas, etc.) are shit
