How do i jack up an xm?

OK, how the f do I jack the xm up? Trying to get one front wheel off at a time. Tried jacking up up and putting an axle stand under but it didn't feel right, and the car went right down low when I de-jacked it, and I had to turn it on and whack the suspension in high to get it out.

Any ideas? Out on it now!

If it's like a BX, suspension on high, jack up on the subframe and then use stands on the subframe. When it comes to lowering the car, it will try and trap the jack 9 times out of 10, so let it down gently with the engine running. It should eventually work out what's going on and raise up. How long depends on the car.

yep, whack on high!

Any jacking should only be done when the suspension is up at full height, then you can drop the suspension to the lowest setting and let it lower itself onto the axle stands and you have lift off.

I'd do both together - remember to leave it on the lowest setting when you're under it.

I always used to shove it up on ramps if working underneath unless I was removing the wheels.

Let the suspension do the work.

Whack in high first, jack up, place the axle stands under the subframe, drop suspension to lowest setting so it lowers itself onto the stands.

When done and wheels are back on etc. start the car and whack the suspension in high first. Once the car's fully raised, jack up, remove the stands then lower slowly to the ground off the jack. As the car's in 'high' it won't try and trap the jack.

Mark.

I echo using the suspension to take the effort out of raising it but be bloody careful getting it back down.

Dropping it onto axle stands will confuse the suspension and it's liable to drop without warning when it's not held up by the jack/axle stands any more so don't have you're arm under it (pulling the stands out) when it does.
