Been up to Czechia for the last week, meeting up with a load of biker mates for a weekends riding (93 bikes made the 100 mile rideout on Saturday) and (mostly) boozing. I decided to fly from Spain and rent a bike in Prague, which made best use of my time and money (3,500 mile round trip).

It has also made me realise that I will never find the time to ride all my bikes on a regular basis, so think some will have to go.

The Royal Enfield will stay in Spain. The Guzzi and KTM have wormed their way into my life, and I have a bond with both.

I.might change my mind in a few weeks when I get back to the UK, but my head has to over rule my heart.

Likewise the Saab will have to go, as it will now sit out on the street for 10 months of the year. Similarly the Vivaro van. I might as well hire something when i need a car in the UK, as that works for me in Spain.

Makes me sad.

Place I purchased my Enfield from have a part of their showroom filled with 70's and 80's bikes (Goldwings, CB750's and a CBX1000) but more interestingly for me a couple of little Moto Guzzi Hispania's

Are the goldwings for sale or show? My dad is semi keen on an early GL1000.....

i want to buy this but it would mean buying a grom a monkey or a super cub to get to work on as its too big for my commute

Fun bikes but sadly thief / twat magnets all of them. And that rather spoils the enjoyment of them.

The sole reason I sold the grom. Fun and great for the 12 mile round trip commute but anywhere other than the secure car park of a Cat B jail and I was shitting myself some bastard would have cut through the 12mm chain and hauled it away. Lost count of the times I found it "tampered" with on my return.

Sounds very sensible, and by that I mean dibs on the Cagiva!

Interesting suspension on the Guzzi - there will be modern day manufacturers who'll claim they invented this layout, for example Kawasaki...

I signed wifey up to do her CBT - anytime she goes out on the back of my bike she wants to get her own, then the notion leaves her.

So I signed her up with the rational "do the course and you'll be more informed at the end whether you definitely want a bike or not"

Well she's halfway through (the local school split it into chunks for complete novices) and surprise surprise she loves it and wants a bike - being sensible she's decided to stay on a 125 for a while before pursuing a full license.

She prefers cruiser style bikes, and as she has shortish legs the low seat height appeals - the schools CG125 has been grand but she's on tip toes with it, a cruiser would mean both feet flat.

I've seen a Suzuki GZ125 at a dealer near work, are they any good? I'm guessing because it's a very basic Japanese air cooled 4 stroke 2 valve single it's going to be sewing machine reliable....

Should be, unless its been owned by a dozen teenagers, one of my staff has a Suzuki Intruder 125cc V twin cruiser and its a really nice bike that is low but not small and has a bit of road presence.

This is the yoke, I prefer the spoked wheels but the cast ones would require less maintenance I guess.

Tell me more!

A lovely 4th gen 97 VFR with just a few careful owners before a non careful one in myself. 35k miles although showing more as replacement clocks have been fitted.

It's currently suited to the odd coloured panel thread as it had a minor disagreement with a HGV. As such one panel is orange. Runs and rides happily, new front tyre, has stainless headers fitted which is their usual issue. Cosmetic problems other than the colour and general poor condition of the fairings, are the odd missing bit of fairing trim and the odd screw / fixing that isn't in place. A couple of zip ties are helping in that respect.

The only real issue is the electrical problems, they're on the ask a shiter thread, basically there's some issue in the main loom from what I can tell. I really should just buy another loom but I'm just depressed with the amount I've already spent on it, if I'd known how much damage I'd done to it I'd have just scrapped it what was going to just be a panel has turned into three panels, fairing mounting bracket headlights etc.... I was hoping to deal with the electrical issues after the summer but it's now kyboshed my shitefest chance.

The problem is what I've pissed away on it means I'll probably end up keeping it as I'm too far in for what it's worth. Offers involving swaps with a working bike with a little bit of cash the other way definitely welcome.

Paid another visit to Sammy Miller's museum in the New Forest this morning.  Things got off to a poor start with this TEA TRAVESTY:1210080798_2019-05-2709_55_11.thumb.jpg.16d1c763b0111c340253eaa590060071.jpg

Bag in mug = NO.  Anyway, here is a Munch Mammoth:

Look, a Kawasaki!   Kwaks are the best bikes, in case you were wondering.  They are, stop arguing.

The place is rammed with interesting stuff, this has a radial engine:

Sammy himself was there, giving a tour to a group of old boys.  They were a widowers club, I didn't know such things existed and I find it commendable.  For that reason I decided not to duff up Sammy for permitting crimes against tea in his cafe.

Does anybody want a pile of late 70s/early 80s bike magazines? I rescued these from going to the tip but I am trying to make some space in my shed. Titles seem to be mostly Bike, some Your Bike and some MCW papers. There may well be others, I stuck them in a box years ago, a quick look today showed the above, earliest in the few I looked at was 1978, latest 1982 but these are just what is near the top. There are lots, a pile about 2ft high or more. FOC if you collect or free delivery to Shitefest, otherwise they will go in the recycling after all which would be a shame.

I've been to Norfolk and found some great roads between Thetford/Swaffham/Fakenham/Dereham.  I usually stick to the coast which is scenic, but not great riding.

Spotted one of those harlequin R8s from the eBay Tat thread in Swaffham too.

I've been called a Pussy. Had comparisions made with a Trek MTB, and Mrs Cade has given it a name. I've gone rouge and bought a (nearly) new bike. After many years of big 1000cc+ BMW's and Kawasaki's I've downsized to a 650, and I bloody love it! After doing the Dukes Pass on the ZX9, and having a few moments on gravel, potholes, tar strips and farmers mud trails I just wasn't enjoying being on a bike anymore. I love being on  a bike, after getting off a boat  from Dover so finally admitted I'd had enough of being in a constant state of fear and disappointment when on a (big)bike in this country, I decided to go for something big, friendly and able to tackle the pitted crappy tarmac they call A roads in Scotland now. I've already had the pegs down, in the wet, it shrugs off gravel, tar lines ect mid bend and just seems a lot more "fun"! Plans are forming already for a Euro tour later in the year with the Mrs where I may regret not going for the 1000, but for now I love it!
