PiperCub
There was a thread on here some time back relating to What happened to all the old hot rods/custom cars from the scene of the 70's & 80's etc.

davocano
"Alca'blown" was featured in the January '81 edition of Hot Rod & Custom. I'm pretty sure that Minor pickup int' background appeared in print at some point. chaseracer and Split_Pin

My 11th birthday treat was a trip to the Custom Car show with a mate (Ally Pally iirc) and father Alf and with one of his mates. They left us alone all day.........reckon they went off to pub/hooker. Extra birthday pressie was copy of Men Only as a bribe not to mention the disappearance to my mum. Also got access to the workshop tit mag collection.......all classy stuff like Penthouse, Men Only and Club International. 12th birthday pressie was a Ford Pop dragged out of a scrapyard in Biggleswade..........12 year old me had great ideas to build a custom. Standard ingredients at the time was a viva front end and Jag rear. Never got finished and sold it for peanuts when I was 17 to fund purchase of industrial amounts of isopon and duplicolour for my first Mini sierraman, Split_Pin, Amishtat and 2 others

vulgalour
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this bus. My only regret is that I didn't get more and better photographs of it at the time. Meadowhall, 2011. There was so much good work on this thing that you needed the photographs to find everything that was done and even now I see new bits I'd previously missed. Austat
I've discovered this car kit company called "Dream Factory Blow". They specialise in Japanese mini vans made to look like American ones; Such as a Hiace made to look like a Dodge A-100: As well as miniature versions of other American van classics: All of these conversions remind me of this spotted by dozeydustman a few months back: rainagain, NorfolkNWeigh, dc2100k and 7 others 9

I had to recover one for the Phat Pasty co. in Milton Keynes to the place that made them in the Midlands. Anyway the front was really low, so reversed it very slowly onto the tilt bed, but stalled halfway up so stamped on the brake... The complete spoiler bumper and step assembly just popped off and slid down the bed and skidded across the rough tarmac before hitting another van. I quickly jumped out and checked it into the crew cab and fucked off. I stopped in a lay-by and bodged it back on with self tappers, which was probably better than it had been held on. No one ever complained. They don’t look that low in this picture, maybe because they haven’t got a great big fat fucker wedged in the drivers seat! Jerzy Woking
I miss the Drag Racing at North Weald airfield. Some really nice cars there, like this: Not sure about the black plastic arches, but forgiven because And there was this in Spain last year. Supposedly fitted with a Clio 172 engine. Never saw under the bonnet, but it was bloody loud and Spain the wheels up with ease. Not sure how many times the rear bumper was rebuilt each year. paulplom and NorfolkNWeigh

Never seen one of those based on a BX before, but I read a great feature recently about the Tissier-converted CX-based ones that were used for ferrying newspapers across country from the printers. Too expensive to fly them and thanks to their speed restrictions lorries wouldn't have made the overnight trip in time, so these things were built. Didn't they convert some Xantias or XMs too? somewhatfoolish
