chaseracer
The detailing on the Cortinas looks superb, especially the wheels and lights. Do they do a Hillman Avenger 1600 Super, pre-'76 facelift, preferably in Cherry Red? Just wondered...
brammy777
Woah. Cheers for the picture Lobster, that detailing is superb. Of all the post Hornby Corgi Vanguards, I have only bought the Nova, which was good, but not great. But that looks brilliant, better than the MKIII Cortina one.Chaseracer, they do have a Hillman Avenger but not in that colour.
chaseracer
Old Tamiyas do fetch strong money nowadays. The old 3-speed Hi-lux and Blazers fetch upwards of £350 for one that need restoring for example.Hmmm. Wonder what my VGC original Sand Scorcher (boxed-up in the attic since 1985) would go for?

155V6
Those Tinas look lush I've heard that a pre facelift Mk2 Granada has been pencilled in for May (doubt it coming out on time though ) too I wonder where you heard that ,isn't there a Mk 1 Fiesta coming out as well? eddyramrod
If there is, I hope they do a Peppermint Green one in BSM trim! Ah, memories...
eddyramrod
...And I've just looked, UYM 717S hasn't been taxed since 1986, so it's a fair bet it's gone.

eddyramrod
Yeah maybe, except it sent me off on a trail of new windows that seemed to bear no relation to what I thought I was going to see. Fortunately Mrs Ramrod wasn't in the room!

Values of these have took a hit since Tamiya re-released these earlier this year.I've seen half decent examples go for around £150 but should fetch more if its nice and comes with its box and paperwork. eddyramrod
For no good reason I thought I'd show you these, which represent a tiny fraction of my collection:As you can see, there's a bit of a police-car bias! Also a considerable lean towards Detroit, which is understandable the moment you look at the cars I've owned. I'm still buying, but on a rather more occasional basis now. Just think, someone has to pack all these away for our move in the spring. That'll be a job for me then!
Mr Lobster
I wonder where you heard that ,isn't there a Mk 1 Fiesta coming out as well? Corgi haven't announced any new releases for April onwards yet, official announcement due shortly. Cortinas are as good as they look though, wouldn't expect them to hang around too long The post Hornby Corgi stuff has been a lot better than before and sells a lot better too! chaseracer
There must be more Princesses in that pic than there are real ones left...!
eddyramrod
I counted 45: 20 white, 25 bronze. If I hadn't repainted my two, I'd have one of each. As it is, I have one black and one red, to match the real ones I had. I can't imagine the Dinky model was a big seller, as it was still a toy in those days, and suffered from having no opening/operable features, nor even any suspension. My Corgi Marina Coupe, by comparison, has opening doors and bonnet, suspension and Whizzwheels. And it's painted blue to match my real one from 1983... Nowadays of course, the Vanguards Princess is a "Collectors' Model" and isn't expected to have opening doors etc, though at least it's available in colours that were used on the real cars. Anyone remember Marina Coupes in metallic lime green? Thought not...
Richard
There's a guy locally who has a model to represent every LNER Class A4 ever made- and in every livery that each one has worn.
morris_ital_lover
Thats alot of Princesses . As for the LNER A4 Man... 4x35 (rough number of liveriesworn by the locos) x£100, he should have saved up and got a real stea engine! m0rris

VWPowered
ok a quicker build hopefully it will inspire others to try... wow what a mess, looks like pikey's have been simple base 32x40cm, sandpaper as road base, cardboard sprayed for fence simple moke up of how it should sit together THE DOLL IS NOT MINE.... ) garage simply a cardboard box covered in white paper and bits out of magazines as posters ahhh the stash shelf, lots of cars died for this but what an effect it has as a piece, shelfs made of modelling matchsticks and bits of lego im not so good at scratch building only managing to build afew items, one is this tyre machine Modded 504 sits its place in the garage with shelf in place 504 has datsun 240z wheels and headlights and indicators from a rally 504 see how quick it fills again...??? windows will replace my iffy matchstick ones, cutting glass (yes glass not plastic) all part of the fun. (the reason i use glass is one the reflection you get, normally very clear to see through, glass doesnt scratch as easy), epic wheel collection just keeps growing something else i built was the tyre rack appearance changed alot with simple add-ons oh postbox built that too ) bit of lego and a driveshaft done... next installment, rendering the walls, adding more detail to the garage itself... Tonka
Despite promising the boss I wouldn't start collecting anything else I couldn't resist these at our local toy fair last week. Nissan Cedric which apparently shares many front end parts with my Stagea and a hand made Prince Gloria (part of the Skyline story) Celica Supra and liftback. This is the reason why she isn't keen on me collecting stuff, yet she still bought me another new Tonka truck and a Tomica garage (more of that later) for Christmas......... and that isn't all of them..................... VWPowered
blimey nice collection of tonka's update : coated in thick pva then sand shaken on top... allow to dry do all the bits you need to will dry like so mines painted in gloss which i find is alot harder to damage over emulsion which cracks, sometimes afew coats are needed, first coat onto framework sizing it up... put pva all along the baseline and cut some moss (yes the stuff down forest like) into fine bits., sprinkle over the area you've glued...repeat till its dense, spray with watered down glue to set it solidish... umm walls, cheeky fix lego taped together, then again the same as walls, pva and sand, then whatever colour you require on top... the work continues
