How’s about that then?

That's a pretty good photo - no judgement on the younger JS in the picture.

That flat in Leeds is devoid of style - great views of the woods but it just looks like a very cheap building that's been sold at a premium price to me.

I would imagine that the number plate is worthless now, anyone selling it and not declaring who owned it would probably have legal action taken against them for not saying it was Savilles. I guess the owner could surrender it back to the DVLA and they could make it sure it wasn't issued for sale ever again.

Watched that Savile documentary on the telly last night and was reminded about this,

History probably doesn't record what the original JS247 was. I quite like the idea that old Jim here "plate raped" some old 1920s heap found rotting in a Scottish bog while he was a radio DJ.

There were various other motors in the same auction as the Rolls. I wonder what happened to them? Vaguely recall one of them being a newish Fiesta van with a guide price of about 3 grand and thinking at the time that it might be a good investment...

I was re reading some old magazines recently (I think that it was Practical Classics) and saw an advert for saville's Range Rover. It mentions him owning it, so is obviously from before everything coming out.  I can imagine someone buying it, thinking that it was a nice, unusual camper and the association with it's history would be a good investment. Of course we know what happened next, but I can't help wondering what happened to the vehicles, I mean who would want to go anywhere near them? And also, would you want to know anyone who would touch them?

I know that it's an ancient thread, but people said about them just being old cars, what's the harm? If we were talking most of the other disgraced 70's stars, probably not much. They owned them, but the cars were unlikely to have been involved in any crimes. But, the Range Rover, he probably raped kids in there! I'd imagine scrap was the only real option, even with a change of identity (plate /colour / whatever) who'd want it? Surely even something like a museum wouldn't want that.

Yeah he liked his mobile bedrooms. I bet that Rangey camper saw quite a bit of off-road action, by all accounts JS wasn't one for posh hotels where staff and other guests could see who he was coming and going with.

Here's a thing:

Potentially the world's quickest depreciating VW T5.

A factory built California, rather than an aftermarket conversion, with the rare 4wd option and the most powerful engine would be the holy grail of the T5 world, so always worth strong money. If you buy any used vehicle, particularly one that can be used as accommodation, it's probably best not to overthink what previous owners might have done in it!

Jeezze.... Just SO creepy - this topic looming out of the [... All Our!] past.

I'm truly 'haunted' by the image - in the credit b/w imagery of 'World at War' - a sallow faced child/teen who ..... ghosts away.

Truly chilling... *Lest We Forget 😱
