Diesel Pump Advice

Now despite years of spannering I don't often have to do much beyond replacing parts on diesel engines....so I am face with a leaking pump on the P100, it's coming from the accelerator arm where it goes into the top cover, so what I would like to know is

1- can you get replacement seals?

2- Do I have to take the pump top of to replace the seals?

3- Will it throw millions of springs and bits into the ether if I remove the top plate?

4- Would I be better just replacing the pump with one I have lying around and hope for the best?

Is it the usual Lucas CAV rotary pump? They produced millions of them so there should be replacement parts.

I had a Bosch pump do this on a 1994 Fester 1.8 Diseasel. All in for about £60..... Did more mpg afterwards.... obviously I wasn't feeding the tarmac.

I tried it once. The answer is yes.

 

If it was me I would look in yellow pages for "diesel injection specialist" and see what they say.
