The Acclaim - Adequate but uninspiring.

The Volvo - Subpar, not aided by mine having blown bulbs (Ironically the non-functional fuel gauge is lit up but the working temp gauge isn't)...

Finally, @davidfowler2000's Pug 205. Fucking amazing.

I took a few more dash at night photos a week or two ago to celebrate getting the heater panel illumination working on the Punto (since sold to BeEP) and the C2.

Another of the Felicia, with less streetlight interference:

I expect better from a 25year old Volvo...

My old 480 Turdbot did that on the speedo to the point where it wouldn't display over 50mph due it eventually flaking off and jamming the needle.

Same as my dad's.  Not a bad steer for a modern.

This was my Dad's until he became unable to drive, so I'm now the custodian. I wouldn't necessarily have chosen it, but it's growing on me.

First modern I've seen that doesn't have a rev-meter

It's the hybrid, hence no rev counter. The normal pez and derv ones have one.  As wuvvum says - it's of limited use with the CVT-alike transmission.

Seems very cold to me...just makes it seem somehow unwelcoming in the dark.  Just my point of view though.

I wouldn't disagree with that. It's a "starker" blue than say a 00's VW. I really rather liked my Bora - blue gauges, red everything else.

I think the red was what made it work in VWs, if it had all been blue it wouldn't have worked.  It had a slightly violet tint to it as well as I recall so even the blue looked "warmer" somehow.
