oldford
You could try Frank at Parkwood Autos, Elmsett. Though he has a bit of a clear out recently, he'd moved the 3 or so Triumph Spitfires and the MGB out to the front.
Spottedlaurel
Very brief update, more so as I can ask a question. These are all now on Flickr, but what's an easy way of grabbing the links to each image? On Photobucket it gave this under the thumbnail for each photo, but I can't se how to get it on Flickr without clicking on the image then going to the "All sizes" page. Or am I being dim and missing something obvious?... Edit: This was white, with more basic graphics that matched the Lada estate that they still have (and I've previously posted). Edit: This CF comes and goes, has been in residence for longer now than I can recall though. Edit: The BX I might well be acquiring soon. Edit: These lurk at the same garage. One or two more pic's to come from there.
Richard
If you right-click at the very bottom of the picture you can copy the image location in the same way as you would on any other internet picture.
trigger
^ Nice BX!, I always click on all sizes tab > right click > Properties or just copy and paste the link at the bottom.
Spottedlaurel
Captions added to my last post, plus the rest of my recent stuff... Taken more for the graffiti, I later noticed the taped-over rear window. Possibly a bit new, but I thought it had enough scars to warrant inclusion here. Lucky shot of this G-reg Bluebird when I'd actually got the camera out for this... Unscened Golf GL. Seen a couple of times since. Lidl's disabled bays still occasionally produce the goods. Mismatched panels and cheapo wheeltrims all present and correct. What's currently on my driveway. Laurel just run out of MoT, that can wait until after our hol's. Apparently not many people guess the rear light origins. Obviously not 'shiters are they... Comedy camber going on when they went off for a drive in the Wartburg. Selection from this month's R-R meet-up. XM 24v for spares, owned by the people who have the 16v BX. Looked tidy. Hastily-snapped shot by Mrs SL. Don't know if this place all now closed-up. At the same place where I saw the A-series and P4. Years ago I remember an Austin 3-litre for sale here. A bit remore where they're based, I bet they know of some interesting local cars. This looked comically weeny. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3106/3825625984_4e05f7d28a_o.jpg For some reason, I can't help wondering if these are the right wheels for a GTL? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3482/3824823419_17cca5c0a7_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2489/3825624974_fc00ce62d2_o.jpg Ultimate Mk4?! http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2587/3824824051_08a4a171f6_o.jpg Finally, I don't really know squit about bikes. Suitable for these pages? I'm introducing not only pic's from Flickr but also my new compact in these last two posts. Latter obviously not up to the DSLR's standards, but handy for snaps (stupidly didn't take it with me recently when I could've got half-a-dozen nice shots). pogweasel
Nice pics! That 205 reminds me of the one I had years ago, J639HCW, also sported Rallye steels (plus a 1.1 and 4-speed box!), great little cars. Also the only car that I have paid more that 4 - figures for (for my own use)....That bonnet badge on the Cortina...?What is it about?I remember stuff having them on in the 80's, in particular the village financial advisor who would visit us when I were a lad... CortinaDave
While it's bloody lovely.. there's no such thing as a Ghia S mk4. the S and the Ghia were seperate models up until the "cortina 80" facelift when the S pack became just an add on to a GL or Ghia etc. So that one's a 2.3 Ghia with an S badge stuck on.There are less than a dozen mk4 S's left now (of which mine is one) *removes anorak*
trigger
Now i really like this, Imagine all the girls you could pull in it that would think it's cute! Shame you wouldn't be able to get any of them in the car once i was in it though!. I saw that Cortina at a car show in Colchester a month or so ago, I couldn't understand the badge myself. Spottedlaurel
The BX 16v should be mine once I get round to arranging transport. More to come on that once it's here... Anyway, before I start a healthy update from my holiday in Somerset last week, a quick bit of deck-clearing: Clean 480 Turbo, for sale before I went away, only 45k or something on the clock. Gone last time I drove past. Seen this around several times recently. One time I pointed it out to Mrs SL as an example of what I want to buy as my winter daily, she thought it looked too modern Not particularly rare or shite, but I thought it was one of those cars that will just suddenly disappear and in a few years' time we'll wonder where they've gone. Glad to have caught this at last! Early morning and was taken at a fair zoom, s not the crispest shot. Sure I've seen this around the area a few times, once towing a Laguna A few weeks back there was a 1986 Sunny on this driveway, so worth keeping an eye out for what's happening here I think... Long-time watchers of my posts will have seen this before, previously I think I've only ever seen it on the move but still managed to grab a shot of it. One of these was niftily transformed by Ratdat into the Granny-Drift picture, which still makes me laugh. If I can I'll upload it later. Anyway, good to see it still on the road. So, let's start my journey down to Somerset... Tidy Amazon estate on the A12. A detour due to a car issue took us into Chelmsford (too tedious to go into right now), but on the bright side we stumbled upon this Silvia Turbo. Mrs SL was still getting her hand in with the new camera and on-the-move spots, this wouldn't really be worth posting were it not for... The look on his face Oddball Toyota Camry Solara (effectively a Camry coupe). LHD on Polish plates. Note the traffic, which we had to suffer round most of the M25 Up to speed again on the M4, this was scooting along fairly rapidly. In fact he was probably going faster than... This nice Mustang. Another exciting episode to come.........
Spottedlaurel
Onwards... Faded red Ford on a classic terrace in Bath #1. Faded red Ford on a classic terrace in Bath #2 (plus old woman scrubbing). Not taken on this holiday! We'd gone through Bath for the sake of nostalgia, as Mrs SL used to be a student there and I visited regularly over a couple of years. This shot dates from those days, circa 1992/93. Back to the present day. Don't know what this bog old thing was, but it looked at home cruising around Bath. Moving on from Bath into Somerset proper. Guess which 'shiter came to mind when I saw this? Things looked promising when this was one of the first spots seen in the village where we were staying. And they were to get better... The village garage, which contained... This lovely Mk2 Granada. 38k and one owner from new, garage looking to MoT it, clean it up and sell it for about £1500-2000. We discussed how difficult it is to price something like this, if it was a Ghia X it would doubtless be more. I would say it's Doc material, be interesting to see what he'd get if he had it. Worth me pointing him in their direction?... BMW line-up at one of the village pubs. Do the funny indicators and sidelights indicate this is ex-military? We saw a lot of Land Rovers. Proper-looking agricultural engineers etc in the village. Easy to imagine this having a long history going back to days of being a forge. Final one for now before getting out and about around Somerset. Turbo Charade must nowadays be quite a rarity! Had at least one non-standard seat in it.[/img]

Spottedlaurel
Mrs SL did a good job, quite a few of these pic's are hers, and I must also show appreciation to the family's patience when I'd keep stopping or even turning round due to something exciting. Lots more to come... As grotty as you'd hope a mid-80s Montego to be. Commer plus unmolested pov-spec Impreza combo. Unused Proton plus shed. 100NX with a rusty tailgate. Thought this Hiace was unusually late on a B-plate. Bloomin’ lovely Prelude at a National Trust property. Reasonably local people out for a jaunt, judging by the dealer sticker. Interesting Minor which passed us rather rapidly on the M5. Mrs SL barely had time to get the camera out before it had disappeared. DVLA says 3500cc, so presumably runs a Rover V8. Not evident here is the fact it runs a lowlight front end. Anyway, very nicely done and great to see it being used – it was midweek, so presumably not out for a show or anything. Still a good amount more to come, as those of you who’ve already seen them on Flickr will know.

Even from my brief glimpse it looked very well-sorted, and gave a degree of amusement to see a Minor bearing down on me when I was already cruising at a healthy speed. It didn’t sound particularly V8-ish, I wondered at the time if it was a hi-po 4-pot.I look forward to seeing what you unearth in Wales.

Spottedlaurel
Forgive me if I end up repeating something, Flickr seems to put things in a slightly odd order sometimes. Sorry, more Camry love. This one's a 2.2GL, for some odd reason the saloons got 14" wheels which don't look big enough. Local reg'n I think, saw a Celica with a plate just a few digits along. Low Golf with an odd hood. As I do locally, saw loads of lowered Mk2's. Late BX seen just before going on the West Somerset Railway. Seems to have a few bits and bobs in common with the 16v. Trains and stuff seen as we made our way along the railway... Which included this Civic Shuttle in a field! Parked-up at the end of the line at Minehead. Bought these at the usual railway book and magazine shop. 50p a volume, seemed silly to spilt them so I had the lot. Then had to lug them back, but good holiday reading. Mid-70s, so spot-on for my tastes. Hiding on the edge of another NT property, individually each would have been OK but the three made for an essential photo. Compare with another coupe I saw later. Had fun on the beach at Brean watching these two rattle up and down and snapping a few pic's of them. Accord last on the road in 2007 it would seem. K10 Micras reasonably plentiful, certainly more so than Sunny and Bluebird of the same vintage. Oldest K10 we saw was on a 'D', covered in graffiti-type paintwork. Similar colour to the Micra. Mean-looking 2000. If it's going to get obscured by something then I suppose an 800 is acceptable. Poor old Cavalier looks like it's sat a while. Still more to come... pogweasel
Lovely pics. Do like a bit of somerset, my grandmother & my uncle live right by the steam railway there, basically one field between them & the trains, then another field and you're on the beach. Wonderful. Don't get down there nearly as often as i'd like.

Spottedlaurel
Time-warp Capri, would have been so common to see them like this 15-20yrs ago. To add to the effect, but sadly unphotographed, when first seen there was a D-reg Bluebird coming the other way. Oddly I saw that again somewhere else later in the day. Hadn't intended stopping for this, but as it was next to the Capri and I know they have thrir fans on here seemed silly not to oblige. A remarkably svelte and stylish camper, I'm sure you will agree. Another open-top jobbie. Bit pricey here, so I didn't get anything for me... But we did pick up these for my son. Rather predictably, we saw loads of VW campers of varying descriptions. Presumably this is a Mexican one? With its Norfolk registration, it was like bumping into a friend from home. Hirst-mobile Cadillac Seville. Gorgeous Alvis, a 12/70 so the badge said. Passengers very friendly, left it parked next to us with wonderfully casual abandon. I'd love to have seen this if it had gone up nearby Porlock Hill. Later (too-big IMO) wheels on this 944? Probably hopeless as a camper, but this Suzuki seemed a practical choice when the driver got out and brewed-up for a picnic with her children. Inevitably, I like these. Serck plates front and rear and a neat dealer sticker! Lucky learner driver eh? I'm no fan of driving these, never liked the interior, but still pleasing to see. Concluding probably my best-ever haul at a National Trust car park was this unscened late Golf. GX trim foxed me, apparently it's a run-out model with some GTi bits. Good to see anyway. This looked good parked up in Dunster village. Had a bit of grot for a bit of shite appeal. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2641/3875673988_1cb790646e_o.jpg A car I've always admired, but would probably never be brave enough to own. Weird slogan on the dealer sticker. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3454/3875678096_eccdfb55c5_o.jpg Mrs SL did very well to get this as we'd actually driven past it. Plate read WTF, which is the question I'd like to ask. Anybody? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2661/3875678430_49171c48da_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2429/3875678960_57542db8c9_o.jpg Very tidy, bright Escort Ghia with equally bright planting scheme. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3446/3874888087_bd5018f15e_o.jpg Parked at the top of Porlock Hill (which really is steep isn't it?!), these people appeared to be living the dream. But, and Mrs SL noticed this too, it was hired so they were kind of cheating... Final batch of odds and ends to come.
pogweasel
Is the WTF a Palflinger / Halfinger?I can place pretty much every single pic there, know it all very well. Re. Porlock, yes it IS very steep. Spottedlaurel
Nice colour on this smart GTE. Whoa! At least it looks standard and doesn't wear the usual Superlites etc. CF camper on the move. For Regie, it had the same rear lights as one of the ice cream van CFs. Another one. Was disappointed not to snap one parked up with a Renault 21 on a driveway elsewhere. Tractor love #1 and #2. The second one is a Marshall, a brief swansong for the Leyland common in the '70s (see below). Quite a bit going on here. Cooper genuine? There was also a 912 or 914 parked up in an adjacent garage, and something under a tarp. Pleasing sight. Sadly not a Roadline body, but this lot still a nice little grouping well out in the middle of The Levels (Somerset's version of The Fens). Tractor love #3, another attractive rural ensemble. Cargo looked great. Orange tractor a Universal? And finally some odds and ends from Sparkford, mostly from the car park: Can you believe I actually owned one of these? Only for a month though. Sadly I've never owned one of these. E-reg fairly old for this? Driver was at least 135 years old. These seemed to be visiting separately. Later a Golf Gti Mk2 parked between them for a very R-R line-up. Apart from getting shots like this, it was nigh-on impossible to take decent pic's inside as the cars are rather crammed in. Shame. [Pedant mode] Annoyingly there was a thing next to this which kept playing Ghostbusters music - it's nothing like the one in the film! [/Pedant mode] This 240Z was nothing special, and there weren't many OJC's on display. But, the reg'n seemed familiar... Knew I'd seen it before! This from Datsun Dealer magazine from 1977. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2621/3888289988_33515383d4_o.jpg The end, at last! This house was not where we stayed. Intriguing place though, wonder how the windows have been kept for so long?
pogweasel
I assume the windows on that house are steel framed, going by the flat-topped architecture and thin fenestration? Generally seem to be much longer lived than timber frames, so not totally unsurprising, still good to see as so many are replaced with 'efficient' double-glazed or sealed units. Our house would have originally had steel-framed windows, but they are long gone... I think the council replaced them all in the late 80's - the In-Laws house still retains the steel frames as they were the first folk to buy out under right-to-buy in the locale....Anyway, enough about windows, I've got the raging horn for that Land Rover.... tax-exempt Series III LWB, ding dong yes please!!! Extra shite points if it's a 6-cylinder, GR8 4 9mpg.
