What about the R 30 Mr30TX was going to rescue from the garage forecourt near me? Believe it's still there.

Unfortunately Mr30TX had to change his 20/30 hoarding plans (though this also means Baz is soon to be in shite heaven!).Mr30 described that black 30TX as 'rotten as a pear' - but I do know of someone keen to get one as a project - if you could PM me any more details 55bloke, then I'll pass them on.Similarly - any contact info for the R20 in a bush from you Nor-folk could be passed to the same madman :D

Splendid Sudbury pics....Since the '70s (when we was lads in Sudbury) "FOO 5" has graced a DS, at least 3 CXs (I can remember a red one, a metallic blue one [a la j-j  ] and a lovely white Pallas) and I think this is the second XM....Only natural that he gets a C6 next innit? :D He lives in Friars Street ('bout 2 mins walk from where that pic was taken!)....I'm gonna make a point of going that way through the town when I'm down there in future (camera poised of course) as I've still yet to see one in the metal!

Thanks for the nod there Baz! The guy appears to be in his XM while you were snapping the pic - should just have cruised up and asked when he's getting one.C6: there were TWO here in Glasgow Citroen deeler! (wonder how many they've sold ) I think C6s look good in light colours but the pair here were/are dark. Not seen any 'on the road' though

Been a quiet week, though inevitably there are the 'ones that got away' like a Kitten, Allegro, early Escort MkIII with mod's and various Merc's.

Posted Image

Wanted one of these a while back for family duties, but they seem to rot a bit too well. This one looks clean though, and an ace colour scheme (factory) which suited the behatted owner well.

Posted Image

Possibly a bit too new, but I do like these. Why couldn't they make the X-Type look like this?

Escort Popemobile, grandly badged as Chairman. Just noticed it's on a J, surely they were well into the Escort MkV vans by then? Must have taken a long time to do the conversion......

Posted Image

See this around quite often. Sadly I missed the doggy XR4x4 that was a couple of cars behind, quite like them.

Posted Image

SL family admire this old garage, looks like it was once a school? Doubtless going to be redeveloped for some sort of luxury housing as it's in North Norfolk and the London pound is strong there.

Posted Image

Hella auxiliary light grille makes this 318 look like a 6-pot to the unitiated - I remember having to put my stepdad right on this on one he'd seen many years ago.

Posted Image

Slightly tatty workhorse Volvo estate in dark blue - hmmm, seems a familiar concept

Posted Image

One for Marty! What better way to advertise your business in a posh market town than a board on a dog-eared old BX? Despite the tell-tale tidemark telling us it hasn't moved for a long time, it had a 2007 tax disc so must have a recent MoT.

Nice end to the week's findings. Pretty much the most undesirable Midget you could imagine, and a Wartburg, outside a nicely period bungalow - wonderful! This was very much on Baz's patch on the NW side of Norwich.

Nice cars but THAT school/garage! Our dream place to live! Plenty of space for car stuff and a workshop for my work and living space too! (Mrs Seth agrees by the way! ) I hate it when super properties like this get bought by developers who flatten them and turn them into several modern annonymous and tiny houses :( Out of interest have you any idea roughly how much that would be worth?

Thoroughly agree about the Xedos - very good looking cars for their time & extremely Jaguar-esque styling 8) Is this one the 6? Both versions are rarely seen now :(

:lol::lol::lol: It's even F reg too - but I can't see any duck tape ;) Perfect timing, as mine has been working hard this weekend lugging about 25 heavy sacks of horse shit for my aunt's garden (her 965 also had a similar load in it but was actually more tail down  ) & then taking a very large sofa to the dump this morning.

What a great place! Very characterful as well as being extremely practical :D

Nice M11 Prairie there....I've seen one like that over the past week or two (whilst not carrying camera :( ) but can't remember where....Where was Yours S.L? I'm thinking Cromer or Hunstanton?I've seen the midget too (although again, I can't think where exactly  ) but to my shame, I never noticed the Wartburg  That's why You're a top Shite-snapper and I'm not I guess! :(

BS6, DVLA said this about the Wartburg....Date of Liability 30 09 1997Date of First Registration 15 08 1975Year of Manufacture 1975Cylinder Capacity (cc) 991CCCO2 Emissions Not AvailableFuel Type PetrolExport Marker Not ApplicableVehicle Status UnlicensedVehicle Colour BLUESo, not taxed since '97! I like the fact it's on a local 'AH' registration so has probably spent all its life in/around Norwich. Baz, I'll PM you its location, don't really like to give out roads and exact locations in public - a marauding band of Wartburg thieves might be looking! The M11 Prairie was seen in Attleborough on a stroll around town at lunchtime, with diversions to popular tat-attracting spots.Seth, the garage/school place is in Cley Road, Holt - wouldn't have a clue about value. Lots I'd say, this area of North Norfolk attracts London weekenders and some barmy prices are being paid. Try calling a few of the independent agents in town and see if they know much about it? Unless you desperately want to be in that area for your work I'd recommend other areas of Norfolk/Suffolk where your money would go further but they're still nice towns - Bungay, Harleston, Beccles for example. I'm sure a Client of ours is developing some sort of live/work mixed use thing, can't recall where. Sorry everyone, bit OT.

'Tis OK, Spotted. We're not really thinking about moving up there just would be interesting to know what kind of money would be asked. I think Katie would find the commute ot Milton Keynes a bit far and I've got ties in London too....

I had a 16RS with black chevrons....Coz I painted 'em! :D

I have a TXD with an overload of chromium trim - its gradually getting dechromed and the chevrons is getting stove baked enammeled soon - in Black! Interestingly Citroen deny the existance of the Black Chevrons - they say they never made them, but clearly they did as proper black ones are not just chrome ones painted up, they is black all the way through!

Citroen fitted Black Chevrons only to the "sportier" BX models in 1991/2, so some TZD Turbo and GTi cars got them, but Citroen never listed them as a part (PR-Net) and deny their very existance. No one seems able to find out why they produced them, why they only fitted them to a few BX's and how many were made, or indded why some 91/92 cars came with silver chevrons and some with black. Its one of those weird things that no one seems to explain - one for Mulder & Sculley perhaps?

whats the fascination with black chevrons then! Quite interesting. Do they mean something special?

I reckon it's some sort of goth phase the Citroen exec's were going through back then.Or maybe there was a death they wanted to commemmorate - one of the designer's hamsters, something like that?Purchasing officer with a sense of humour? Did it just to see if a small band of people would be discussing it 15 years down the road?

  • 2 weeks later...

Not much last week, but a few more trips to different places helped perk things up a bit......

Posted Image

Comedy combination #1. Both ultimately do the same job......

Posted Image

Wheel shite. Errghhh.

Posted Image

Comedy combination #2, breeding Pandas.

Posted Image

What this picture doesn't show is how foul the weather was at the time - I got very wet and cold for the sake of this, but worth it I think. Another Lidl spot.

Posted Image

Future shite?

Posted Image

Posh shite! Back looks a right old mish-mash, Camargue more elegant IMO.

Posted Image

Late-80's Volvo graveyard.

Posted Image

I spotted a Laurel  Actually, I have known of this car for some time and have spoken to the owner before, his son is a stock car racer of some repute hence the stuff in the background and following shots. This Laurel is still on the road and he loves it, likely he's going to have my dead one once I've stripped off a few bits.

Posted Image

This Magnette going to be built as a historic saloon stock car (not banger), one day. They were very popular for that back in the day.

Posted Image

SWB CF with twin rear wheels! Vaguely recall this being on the road, suffered a bit since.

Posted Image

Rusty MGB, maybe a donor for engine to the Magnette? Grey car behind is a MkI Cortina done out as an old style saloon stock car.

Posted Image

Nice old P6, V8 too.

Posted Image

In what way could this ever have been popular?

Posted Image

Bit of multi-tasking going on here - simultaneously filling up with petrol and taking a snap of this.

Posted Image

Parking sensors add a touch of Halfords chic to this. Mrs SL amused by its owner, didn't somehow fit your typical XJ-S profile. Odd plate.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Interesting place, lots of dead 80's> BMWs and other stuff, mostly German. Far more than you can see here.

Posted Image

Seen this a few times, just an opportune snap while I was held up.

Posted Image

Mmmm. Make a good Giant Test with that Escort Popular?

Posted Image

Nice.

Posted Image

Looks clean. Haven't posted it before have I?

That's it.

IMHO those Hyundais are extremely fugly - what were the designers thinking? Especially since the pre-facelift version is such a good looking car - had great reviews when new too :D The current one is nice, but like its predecessor, unfortunately suffers from badge snobbery despite being a good car, so definate future shite status!

I've always liked the simple elegance of these Bentleys but glad to hear that I'm not the only fan of the Carmargue - they look great in early form (esp with gold or dark blue paint) 8) but the later ones with body colour bits look shocking :?

Love the R9....Quite often an R11 pops up, but I can't remember the last time I saw a 9! 8) Late XJS is nice to see aswell....Wouldn't touch one with a bargepole, but nice to see! :)

That Bentley is fugly....the rear lights look like they were robbed from a 70's Datsun estate, swapped left to right and right to left and then grafted on.

Not just me then! Not keen on the front either, twin round lights look a bit gormless IMO, though roof and waistline in the middle are quite neat and surely that's the tricky bit?
