PhilA
Still works. Starter motor is acting the fool, alternator regulator appears to be on the fritz too. Goes well though. Fuel is stale which doesn't help, but it's still doing everything it should. I forgot how chuckable it is and how well it stops. Zelandeth
1 hour ago, PhilA said: Took the throttle stop apart and cleaned all the parts. Commutator was dirty. All freshened up. Bon Fun fact - that exact part was also used on the Skoda 135RiC. I guess less surprising when you realise that model was originally destined for Canada before tightened emission regs resulted in them not being able to sell them there - cue a rapid (pun intended) right hand drive conversion and chucking them at the UK. PhilA
Yup, it's used on a bunch of cars from the eighties over here, too.

PhilA
Gave the GTA a bit of a clean up. Likely it'll be gone next weekend, it's provisionally sold. It'll be finding a new home in Missouri. 500tops, Ian_Fearn, mk2_craig and 6 others 8

PhilA
End of an era, indeed. It's gone to a good home, and will be recipient of all the non-sun-baked parts such as interior and dash from some rusted out parts cars. It's gone to an enthusiast. Bye bye GTA! Madman Of The People
Glad to see it's gone to a good home. It deserves to be saved and preserved. The Alliance/Encore were everywhere in the 1980s and then suddenly, sometime around 1990 or 1991, they all suddenly vanished. Renault threw away a golden opportunity to be a major player in America. With Jeep in it's product portfolio, they would have been well placed to ride the 1990s-to-present SUV boom. They also missed the chance to buy Volvo in the early 1990s, which would have given them a premium brand with it's corresponding higher profit margins. Oh, to think what might have been.....
