Cracking thread, deffo one to bookmark!

Northern Ireland drivers are hooked on their cheapo finance deals so, tragically, old cars in everyday use are pretty damn thin on the ground over here.

Having said that, a chum had this shipped over from That London last summer: it's a low spec 1300 Décor 2-door which has been mucho messed with over the years (e.g. it arrived wearing '90s Escort alloys) but still rather interesting. I just found out he's sold his Marina Coupé, so it may be getting more road use soon...

I expect in a few years time these will all be on eBay when the ULEV comes in. Pretty much overnight all the pollution will stop, then everyone in London will be able to breathe again. All the folks on a regular wage living in London will all then have no trouble whatsoever being able to purchase a fully electric vehicle with that spare several hundred quid that their polluting old vehicle cost each month in repairs.

In a serious note some good spots there.

Yup, Ealing again. I got a vibe that it might be local, too, so I’ll keep an eye out for a better shot.....

I work in Ealing, and you do see the odd interesting bit of shite going around (or parked unused).

There was a very much down-at-heel (but still in use) 1969 Vauxhall FD parked in a back street in West Ealing a couple of years back - I really should go and see if it's still there

^^^ great googly-moogly, it's a Ventora... my #1 Autoshite object of desire.

Yoghurt truck well and truly CRASHD.

**wibble**

SORNed so hopefully surviving.

Yes, I'm well aware that orl Vauxhalls is shit.... I spent more years than I care to enumerate lying under one! Still have a massive horn for an FD.

That FD Ventora is absolutely perfect in every way. I only wish I’d spotted it - although Brammy does better photos anyway so it’s for the best.

Ready for a few more?

Here’s another Ealing regular, a Triumph Vitesse in daily use (or at least it was, I haven’t been down that road since before Christmas).

post-4091-0-63653400-1517950826_thumb.jpeg

Next, a BMW in Muswell Hill. A 2002 Touring I think - could be a 1602 but I can’t remember or be bothered to look it up.

post-4091-0-24563400-1517947489_thumb.jpeg

Remember the 80s when every other car advert was shot outside a City wine bar? Well this is just like that, only rusty. And the yuppies aren’t looking admiringly at the Panda Formula, apart from me (and I’m out of shot, and no longer young or upwardly mobile).

post-4091-0-94403800-1517947694_thumb.jpeg

This Benz is small. That Benz is far away.

post-4091-0-54181700-1517947876_thumb.jpeg

As someone on Flickr pointed out (SpottedLaurel I think), this Benz has a driver who is doing Tai Chi.

post-4091-0-32531100-1517948115_thumb.jpeg

I think this Sunny is well known and a popular* resident of a posh part of Belsize Park, but I’m posting it anyway because... well, just because.

post-4091-0-66274600-1517948399_thumb.jpeg

I spotted these two on my collection caper when I picked up the Lancia Gamma. Can’t remember if I posted them in all the excitement but they’re quite good spots so here they are again: a Renault 4F6 van...

post-4091-0-86551900-1517948796_thumb.jpeg

...and a shonky Fiat 127

post-4091-0-28315100-1517948866_thumb.jpeg

(Crap photos but bonus Lancia scuttle content.)

That'll probably do for now...except for an encore here’s another proper rarity. I thought it was just a Herald, but it turns out to be a Herald Courier, which sounds like a local newspaper but is actually a Triumph van.

post-4091-0-08501000-1517948998_thumb.jpeg

Who knew that was even a thing? Not I.

Not seen that Vitesse before. If you walk up Carlton Gardens, you might just be able to spot a Fiat 500 Giardiniere (with suicide doors) half-hidden in a garage.

It is a 2002. Not currently MoT'd or taxed on those plates.

The 2002 (thanks!) looked viable enough - as it’s LHD I wonder if it’s gone back to abroadshire? I’m not going to say when I took the photo as it’s not my job to dob someone in for having an untaxed car on the street - which would be the ultimate victimless crime since it’s tax exempt anyway.

That 2002 Touring in Golf (that's what that yellow is called in BMW speak) appears to have been carefully imported and registered.

It baffles me how such a rare and decidedly in high demand by mainstream collectors car can then be seemingly abandoned in a posh part of that London.

Well, then again. It's that London. Maybe the hipster who owned it had to move to Leeds real quick, like.

Once again, posh bits of London prove to be shite spotting central.

I love a wander round those parts, you never know what you're going to find.

The moneyed home counties where I ply my trade are also a surprising treasure trove of hidden old rammel. And loads of old trilbys still pottering about in their tired 560 SECs or whatever.

Must update my spotted thread.

Oh, and a couple more from my phone while I’m here.

Super-early Merc 190E on an A plate:

post-4091-0-64851000-1527793985_thumb.jpeg

Another Merc, a W123 estate. Still seem to be plenty of these about in daily use.

post-4091-0-87199900-1527794333_thumb.jpeg

And a really tasty Honda Prelude mk2. Local reg, I like to imagine this is still with its original owner. Soz for rubbish photo, that’s the reflection of my Discovery’s vital structural demisting cloth.

Blimey what a spot. Did you go and have a closer look, or were you with 'normal' people who just wouldn't get it...

Sadly I was late for a posh dinner with some people who wanted to sell me robots, so I didn’t get any closer. I did stop to gaze fondly from afar though. It was a fairly late one on a D plate.

Few more.

This Audi 100 Quattro looked immaculate, and a gorgeous burgundy colour. Would.

post-4091-0-27014600-1528150004_thumb.jpeg

Maestro in Shantung Gold with a bonus Gilbern Invader in front of it. Shit photo though, soz.

post-4091-0-77605100-1528150129_thumb.jpeg

Slightly shonky Nova SR in Ealing, the suburb that keeps on giving. I must have posted half a dozen 70s/80s spots on this road alone.

I work in Ealing, and have not yet seen this Nova!

What I have seen, however, is what looks like a plastic shell of a Peugeot 405 on a racing chassis.

Time for a catch-up of spots, maybe.

First, a few from Germany where I was stationed for the duration of festivities. I didn’t go out much because it was cold and damp, so these are even more disappointing than my usual spots.

A very tidy and un-messed with mk2 Jetta, in extra spießig GL trim. SEXT indeed.

post-4091-0-87317700-1546208405_thumb.jpeg

Late 80s hippie spec 2CV. This is what Franke Potenta should have been driving in the first Bourne movie instead of a Mini.

post-4091-0-14678100-1546208629_thumb.jpeg

I got excited about this because I thought it was a really early one, but now I’m not sure. But I photographed it so I’m posting it anyway, so there.

post-4091-0-22821700-1546208757_thumb.jpeg

Previously posted to try (unsuccessfully) to stop people moaning about stuff that is nothing to do with old/cheap/crap cars. It’s a shonky daily driver Renault 12, in the wild, on the Autobahn, for goodness sake. That’s what matters.

post-4091-0-03225700-1546208994_thumb.jpeg

A Barkas. Bit shiny really, I prefer Nigel Bickle’s. But still good.

SNAP!

post-16950-0-66831000-1546257208_thumb.jpg

Panda formula 91 spotted in New Cross last year.

Were these the special edition Panda that originally came with football wheel trimz?
