Looks like a Fiat 130 saloon dropped on a 4x4 chassis!

Is it some form of home knock up? Changing gear looks like "fun"

No it was made in a factory which made cars.

It's got range rover doors and hubs by the looks of things, but the chassis looks longer wheelbase than the 2 door rangey classic the doors are robbed from.

EDIT: I lie this is all bollocks. apart from the door handles.

Assuming it's British, and made by a manufacturer thrashing about loooking for something, anything, to ensure their survival in the early to mid '70s ..... A firm well versed in the black arts of fibreglass moulding, perhaps? ........

Jensen?

Marcos? - It's bonkers enough.

Ginetta?

Gilbern, even?

Posted

None of those but the company did make their cars (that you know) bodies out of fibreglass.

This is a car meant for production and this particular one was meant for sale in Saudi but never got there.

I'd say it is a Rover, seeing as it is based on a Range Rover chassis.

Posted

Not Rover but it is a British manufacturer.

Posted

I would guess Rover too.

For some reason the opening front vents made me think Rover.

Is it a part of British leyland or more obscure like Tickford

Posted

No not part of British Leyland, pretty well known I would have said. I would have thought you would know the manufacturer well messerschmitt owner  .
