Spottings from the vegvan

It seems I've found a body of like-minded souls, so I think it's time I start sharing my regular spottings of tat. I spend my day's delivering organic vegboxes around Shropshire, the Black Country and bits of Brum and I'm always spotting neglected old chod, high miler workhorses and under appreciated Eastern Bloc tin. Hope you enjoy!

Here's a blinder to start off, this lives in Harborne and is in a different spot each week, so obviously being used:

Immaculate Japdom in Shrewsbury, driven by an elderly lady and her spaniels:

In St Georges, Telford:

Looks like the Metro's going on its hols. Keeping it company is another Metro, Allegro, Landcrab and other BMC varieties:

Big pipes in Bayston Hill, no need:

I've watched these melt into the undergrowth of Dawley for the past few years, any guesses what the pile on the left was:

I've seen this beauty regularly for years. It lives in Shrewsbury and is used every day:

And the same with Vegvan 4 in the background:

And finally, I know it's modern, but probably entered the Autoshite Outhouse of Fame when it left it's Dutch factory. A bit disconcerting watching it speed through this roundabout on the A5 outside Shrewsbury:

That's it for the past week, I'll add some older spots now and again and any new gems as I get them, anyone for Tractor-shite?

Oh you absolutely have! I used to drive for Dobson's Produce from Preston, btw...

If that guy isn't on here he should be! I make that two Metros and one Allegro in his drive...

(Edit) In the pic above the Metros, am I seeing a minimum of three Rover 800s? Lord Sterling will be on the way, dodgy knee or no...!

(Edit again) Now we have the big versions, I see there are four! And a Crab and a Sherpa hiding behind the Metros. Marvellous stuff.

Uploaded in Panavision for your viewing delight.

Hopefully I'll be able to get some old photos from my Dad next week. He worked for SEV Marchal and had a mouthwatering selection of merde as company cars. He could choose anything that used a Marchal, Cibie or Valeo part, so I used to get taken to school in our beloved GS Estate, the boss' Monza, Audi 100 and, best of all, the Rancho show car, with added Marchal sunstrips and lights

I don't want to alarm anyone but that MKI Sierra looking rather abandoned is a 1.3 Base model.... And it's still on SORN. Grey grille, without a doubt.

Also, that Ambassador is unreal! According to streetview, there was a similar looking one in Reading up until 2 or so years ago, long gone now though. Great spots so far.

Excellent upload.

I'm totally loving the Rover 800 house and the other place with the BMC motors. Chod and their homes are king of spots for me, seconded only by dissolving huolks in the undergrowth.

I think we should to the opposite of the OMGYKTMT75 mob and take the VIN plate, grey grille, dangly mirrors together with the interior blanking plates from the Sierra and apply them to a Cosworth before passing it off as a Base model on Autoshite.

EDIT: I'm not sure that the Sierra is a Grey Grille Base as its got chrome inserts in the bumper and I'm sure that the Base didnt have those?

That Sunny coupé looks fab! Haven't seen one of those since one of our neighbours had one about 10 years ago. Or more...

I'll most likely see another one tomorrow, this time in Wednesbury. Will get a snap. I should also see my weekly 504 pick-up and Renault 15 :D

Ah so it really is a Base - didn't know about the latter resource, duly favouritised.

There's a few good pics I was looking at of a y reg base on Flickr which is still taxed! The owner said he was not 'online' but was aware from comments of passers by that his car was unusual and of interest!

Kin 'ell, thats literally around the corner from me:

Little unintersting history of that area - Just up from where the Ambastardor is parked, is a sort of large building thats now used as flats, it used to be a fire station and was actualy used in the early episodes of Boon as a fire station.

In St Georges, Telford:

I knew the bloke that owns these. I once got to drive the Blue mk1 Sterling parked on the grass that now looks as if its being taken to bits. It was the first mk1 Rover Sterling that I ever drove and was very nice then.

Your based in Shrewsbury then? Not far from my old hometown of Telford then.

VAU = My old Metro, and still going strong by the looks of it :D

Some incredible spots here! That Sierra base is deffo in the 'holy grail' category of shite. At the very least someone needs to go and rescue the grey grille off it.

Looking forward to seeing more spots from you, not sure if anyone else has managed to find a Renault 15 before??

@ Lord Sterling, you must have worked out where it was by the architecture! I drove down the road the other way today and took a picture of the rear, but you've beaten me to it.

I live in Coalbrookdale, Telford but spend my days working out of a hub between Newport and Stafford.

Had a lean spotting day today, not going near the 504 pick up that I promised, next week maybe. Tomorrow I'll deliver to Bishop's Castle, where I've never seen so many old Escorts, Volvo 240s and Subaru pick-ups.

If you'd like to know the location of the Sierra, send me a message and I'll oblige. Not sure how receptive the owner might be, he lives in a bit of an overgrown fortress.

@Anthony G - They were in the line up to be crushed under the wheels of a Big Foot type thing

Here's an early Mondeo, spotted last Friday in Shrewsbury, relatively good nick, barring the regulation gaffer tape on one corner:

6942161720_e54bc91949_b.jpg

It's lasted a lot longer than the brand new P reg Mondeo that I shared with my boss when working in Italy, back in 1997. A colleague borrowed it one night, to go to a nightclub. He parked it up only to come out and find it squashed between a Fiat Tipo and a wall. He managed to drive it home, having collected all the bits, but the lease company weren't best pleased. It took the collection driver a while to fill out the pick-up checklist:

Doesn't look too bad from the front:

not so good from this angle, oof! Tipos are tough little cars...

5004343904_7ff6af1a3f_b.jpg

This is what I drove most of the time, French registered and by all accounts the first one in Italy, a great car:
