Otto do a Mk1 Fiesta in 1:18.  But you'll need a deep pocket for one. Because Otto.

And because old Ford.

My wife bought me the first Fiesta they issued, for Christmas the year we got married, white mk2:

This was a few months after release and already prices had just about doubled. Folk are now trying to get 300 quid plus for these, compared to an original cost of something like fifty euros.

I don't mind admitting that I signed up to Club Otto a few years ago solely for the purpose of buying a couple of models every few months, hanging onto them until shortly before Christmas, then chucking them on ebay to raise some funds. I'll generally pitch them at just under the cheapest Buy It Now prices to secure a quick sale. Though its tempting to whack them up at some crazy price and wait for the rest to sell out. I'm a bit gutted to see what the RS Turbos and Cosworths are trading for now compared to what I let mine go for!

There were also red and white 1/43 versions - made by Neo and knocked out at about €30 or so.  Theyre pretty rare.  I've sold both of mine now but values followed the same trajectory (as with the real thing, of course).

I've got this 1/43 Guiloy Fiesta, which I should like more than I do - I think it's the stickers and the wheels. B y and large, it's a quite accurate casting though.

I remember learning about the French Dinky Fiestas and the Spanish Scalextric ones from reference books loaned from the city library back in my original collecting days and remembered adding them to things to look out for at swap meets (I found none, of course). But how old does that Scalextric box look?!

I haven't got a mk1 Fiesta at all!  I do want one though, I've been wanting one for over 40 years but somehow never managed to lay hands on one.  LHD/RHD, I don't care; any trim level will do except maybe XR2.  I passed my test in one in 1978 and would like to have one just for that reason.  Battered would be fine, it'll get drilled and sprayed Peppermint Green.  Intact is important, as is price.  Not very bothered about scale either but I think about 1/64 would be right.

Picked up this Spot On A60 Cambridge a while back:

As you may be able to see, it's missing its roof rack, which would've had skis attached, too. That said, it's now a New Zealand native, so wouldn't be carrying them, most of the time.

Certainly, the true blue kiwis doing some hard bloody yakka down the forest wouldn't care for a car adorned with such fripperies, that's for sure.

These old Austins sure were built to get you anywhere.

50656419736_7c6b49c7db_b.jpg

Shit yeah, these old buggers will just keep CHURNING on.

They're pretty easy to handle and can take some stick. Perfect car for the missus to go shopping in.

They'll overheat of course, so just park up and ignore it for a while. She'll be right.

And when it finally shits out, just take it down the farm, bury it and get another.

Mira is your best bet then. I have one kindly sent to me by another member, I do keep my eye out for them but they're not bargain basement. Do we have anyone in Spain who fancies trawling the fleamarkets?

Are car boots a thing in Spain? I thought they were a British thing?

We went to Torremolinos a few years back.

One day ,Miss155 took her two sons to a crocodile park, while I went for a wander around a flea market type thing.

Imagine my surprise when I found a stall selling old diecast.

Imagine my disappointment when I realised it was run by a couple of Brita,& the stuff for sale was what I would find back home 🤣

The most interesting thing I found was a Siku VW pickup.

Nice Piston Poppers. I see the green Hot Rockers continue to spread far and wide.

Funny enough I was going through my Matchbox today to put away my latest finds and weed out any doubles, it's hard trying to keep these things catalogued in your head

Hello all you miniature shite fans. I'm sorry I've been missing from. This thread recently, I've really lost my mojo for diecast.

So, to help me reset, I'd like to offer up my entire 'pending/part projects' box, FOC to anyone who wants it (*postage and packing applies)

There's a lot of useful shit there, whole cars, tyres, windows, shells, axles etc. Included a complete and working but dismantled and stripped Corgi Maestro.

@bunglebus any good to you? As then at least postage wouldn't be an issue....

I just want rid and to start again.
