Diecasts! Corgi 50’s to late 80’s, Siku, majorette? Anything really! £20/25 swap value I reckon with the bashed box. No  Lledo days gone 😂

Anything specific?  It's a fantastic model.  The rear 3/4 view you've done shows how superbly accurate the model is.  And that colour!  I remember the similar 1:1 colour well, I spent a few nights out in the back of one of those (as a passenger getting stoned with the lads, not as a rent boy I should add).

I had a bit of snappy snap earlier this afternoon with some Corgi, but only getting a chance to post it on up now...

So yup, as stated there's four primary casting variations of the Chevrolet Van:

- the 'Custom Van', with four roof windows and oval-window rear doors, which appeared in 1977 in many Vanner custom-style guises plus full mobile bordello cardboard interior (eg Rough Rider) and also as Superhero vans (Superman, Spiderman, erm, Charlie's Angels) - plus the same casting presented as a more sober Coca-Cola delivery van. Which then turned into...

- the 'GM Van' which appeared post-Mettoy, as above but with the roof windows now filled in to make a standard panel van - as per the Royal Mail van in the post above. This casting appeared well into the 2000s in increasingly tenuous guises, including as the A-Team's van and the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine.

- the Corgitronics Radio Van, as shown in my pic above (hey, it's the only other one I have - now owned for about 25 years, since I found it at a car boot sale) - same basic idea, but with a plastic roof insert to house the speaker and a battery aperture in the base. AM radio tuning mechanism is behind the oval-window doors, and the on-off/volume rotary dial is also mounted on the base.

- the Jean Richard Circus Booking Van - this one came with loudhailers mounted on the roof, and a fold-down plastic canopy at the rear instead of the oval-window doors. I've only seen this one in catalogues - never in the metal.

- the Superior Ambulance, which differed from all of the above by having detailed side doors and windows and, as you can see from the photo with the Radio Van, differently profiled wheelarches - not as flared as the other variants. Its roof is also a separate casting entirely; I think the others are either all-metal  as part of the shell, or have a plastic insert like the Radio Van.

So yeah... Corgi sure got their money's worth out of this design!

Nada.  Circus is same casting as Charlie.  Lop the Pinder roof bit off and you will see....  You listed five - for your offering of four!  This is what the 'Corgi Chevrolet Van' collection episode does to you.  Slope> Slip > Affected ☺️.  Ah well, it is... getting late.

The Chevrolet 'Tampo-Ambulance' wishes all, a good night.  Ken however, as ever, is over-enthusiastic and gets in the way

Ever since these Dinky catalogues were posted, the Rover has been fixed in the mind

So succumbed to one.

Nabbed for cheap - because the seller's photos showed the tailgate detached, implying the lugs were broken.  It arrived detached too.

But no - all it needed was to be clipped back home!  Bertie was impressed

SD1 box now ticked.  It's a bit ropey in build though.  Never had a Dinky before with doors that are wanting to hang off even when closed

Can't think of a time when one was seen in the flesh, it does look smaller and less portly compared to the more common Corgi.

Scales to approx 1:38

^ Dug this out.  Proves Dinky were all over the place with their scaling.

Princess: 1/34 ; Rover SD1: 1/38

Until it arrived and in the hands, I foolishly assumed the SD1 was to the same scale as the Princess, being of the same catalogue era...

I've got both of those, although the bronze one is now blue, back in the days when I could paint.

I got the white one for Christmas 1994. I chose it earlier in the month at a Swapmeet. Mint and boxed I don't think it was particularly cheap even then, about £15. That was right at a time when Princesses were completely undesirable. The model is actually really nice and the larger scale suits it. The lack of opening features does not matter. Back then this was the only model you could get of a Princess so I was glad to have one.

I am watching an SD1 on eBay now as I have the Volvo 265 as well and I feel the 3 define an era in Dinky, good or bad.

^ Dug this out too.  Funnily enough, I sold the Stratos just yesterday and it's already wanged (wunged?) its way over to an italoshite collector in Feltham.

Bought from a Dutch seller last year.  Never seen another.  Didn't recognise the brand

(I hope that's your finger)

Look good lined up.  Glass table also helps with uplight, might try that.

I had the Fire chief one as a boy, there was a standing fireman also hanging off the rear.  Soon got lost, along with the detachable fall off-able roof.

Garden table is about the only place with decent light at this time of year. I think Fire Chief is missing the rear gunner and a ladder rather than a roof. I'm surprised the driver is still there as he just lifts out

Popped into Tesco to see if they'd stocked up (yes) so got the hot rod and Powell pickup. Also bought some multipacks which they haven't taken the multibuy offer for at the till, despite me asking at customer service afterwards and calling their helpline, so I have to go back and speak to a manager. So that's put a downer on things, so here's a new 5 pack of Hot Wheels I spotted instead. I'll check out the Matchbox ones once I've had an argument with them

I wondered why Lesney just called this the American Ford Station Wagon, but that seems to have been its name (other than the American part), upmarket ones were Country Squire or whatever

Usually incorrectly referred to as a Ford Fairlane Station Wagon, however Ford did not apply Fairlane to any station wagon in the 1956 US range.  So therefore it is a model of the 1956 Ford Country Sedan

Station Wagon spec went from Ranch > Custom Ranch > Country Sedan > Parklane (all 2-door) > Country Squire (all 4-door 'woody')

Looks in pretty good condition for a 60+ year old
