Nothing there for my tastes, but thanks all the same DC and Eddy. However.. whether I like it or not I'm 40 today and received this little gem from my delightful O. H. earlier.

Hey, Happy Birthday man!

That's quite a delightful gift to receive... and be sure to fill in your Corgi Club application form with the correct age, yeah?

@Datsuncog  - as Hennabm suggests, I'm pretty sure it's a nice looking original 1d - made between 62 and 67. Very happy with that man, cheers!

Excellent stuff!

It's just one of those weird things - as I was holding it, I just couldn't believe it could be an original. It just seemed too clean somehow (though there are a few chips and, now I look closer, a bit of a warp to the halves making up the plastic front roller).

Call me crazy, but it feels too new to be a toy made over fifty years ago, y'know?

Yet I agree that it is.

Ah well, hoping that it fills a gap in the collection, at any rate!

Heh, I found out about the existence of the Lone Star Firenzas a number of years ago, after seeing them in a Vauxhall Motorist article at the launch of the Firenza to show the full range of colours. Never ever seen one in the metal, though.

Apparently Vauxhall worked directly with Lone Star in secret to have the models ready for the launch of the real car - just as Corgi did with many manufacturers in the 60s. Just a pity they didn't repeat this exercise again.

But yeah, I know that three figures for a really nice unboxed example isn't uncommon! Apparently Impy Flyers were priced at half as much again as Matchbox and Corgi Juniors toys, and they didn't have a brilliant distribution network, so never sold in anywhere near the same numbers - hence the comparative rarity.

I'm kinda hoping that one day I'll strike lucky in a charity shop - hey, gotta have a dream...

Ah well... so what about this collector card, then?

I'd thought maybe the card referred to the model it came with, but seemingly not...

YES! You captured the moment perfectly. Somehow, the crushing disappointment that your "Free collectors card" is essentially advertising propaganda for a random OTHER Matchbox car, wasn't enough of a blow to make things any less thrilling.

In fact, I'm pretty sure I opted for a model that was slightly less exciting than the one hanging just above it on the Matchbox rack on more than one occasion, just to secure that vital collectible card. Which would latterly be thrown away along with the box.

Sent a message to a mate who was a bit of a collector of rarities - before the values climbed....

He's the one who has the Airfix Vauxhall Victor kit etc and lent them to me long term so I could rub my grubby paws on them when I get the urge.   So, just messaged the fella and guess what might be arriving at chez F4A tomorrow?  It will be getting more of a molestation than Gordon the Gopher got, that's for sure.

I just picked up a few toys in Lewes junk shops today and I'm pretty pleased with them...

First up a Corgi Police Mini Van...

IMG_9758.thumb.JPG.a62b9d734e5f0d768426da87aed1fbb0.JPG

I had one as a kid and this is just how I remember it, but whe I found it recently it had the back doors replaced with a single one made from a bit of venetian blind & most of the paint was missing plus all the tyres had melted haha! The only bit missing is the Alsation dog!

IMG_9757.thumb.JPG.ed0a31e58d7dee5be93e82c989b72ca4.JPG

Was £2.50 so not bad..

I was tempted by a Dinky Jag Mk2 police car with all the bits still on it, a Corgi Rover 2000 Monte Carlo withone tyre missing and a Renault Dauphine convertable with screen still intact (not sure what make) I must say that an up to date database of what people want would be useful. I did post some stuff in Hastings a while ago and someone said they were interesting, but I didn't go back for ages and when I did they were gone so...

Next up was a Sebastian Loeb Citroen C4 Monte winning VTS...

IMG_9749.thumb.JPG.86829fecd5be54a004d1a47c45d14fcb.JPG

Perfect condition no box for £4

IMG_9754.thumb.JPG.a7dd6e86f3e2d3fa2f6dcca01b089a65.JPG

And lastly a model I never wanted and hadn't been looking for...

IMG_9761.thumb.JPG.43e64a08485b777acbbf0fde980d1080.JPG

Brand new in box Welly 1:24 Mini Cooper, I couldn't resist

Not even taken it out of it's box yet haha

Paid £7 and it had stickers of £9 & £12 underneath. Happy with that

Ohh those Flyers! I've had a massive horn for the Firenza for some years. I've handled one in my sweaty mitts a few years ago at a local autojumble, but that's the nearest I've come to having one.

And until tonight I was blissfully unaware of the Transit wrecker too. Gah!

I'll have to console myself with a good perv over my Oxford Firenza instead. Not as charming as the Flyers version granted but it was a fraction of the price and it has Rostyles!

Those Welly Minis are cool as they are actually Innocenti versions which I dont think anyone else has made. Inhave the smaller 1:32 version.

Pictures of these always fascinated me as a child as they looked different with their quarterlights and different grilles.

I think you need a model Gerry Marshall sprawled on the bonnet with his champagne, winners cup and three adoring ladies draped over him.

Didn't BL pull the plug on Innocenti? I thought they looked rather better than the equivalent British built version especially with that dash with hundreds of dials.

Don't know all the ins & outs, but I think basically BL went bust and Innocenti was sold before BL got bailed out.

They also had a (Bertone designed) Mini based hatch well before the metro...
