Did BT actually operate these in this livery?

I thought they can't have done and it was kicking me in the OCD region!

So.  The Commer Walk-Thru was produced  1961 to 1976

15312603048_43f3f87820_c.jpg.46cb1b3af53f50488398079b1880a20e.jpg

From then it was revised with Dodge badging to 1980

The British Telecom rebrand and logos did not exist until 1980.

But the EFSI casting clearly has COMMER badge on the rear.  But none on the front.

Which means....   to cure the OCD all it needs its Commer badge rubbing out and I will have to tell myself that BT bought at least one run-out model cheap.

Blimey more stuff landing on the mat! Going to have to delete the eBay app...

These were all from one seller, in job lots mostly

This looks like a Rough Rider - with good reason, it's made by the same company, LJN Toys - but it's tiny. Much fun was had getting 3 miles of carpet fibre off the rear axle

Quick Tesco run over lunchtime didn't provide very much to scream and shout about in the toy aisle...

Matchbox seriously depleted, with mostly only motorbike trailers remaining, along with a couple of Mazdas, a Honda E and a Skylark.

I think it's unlikely we'll be seeing more of interest in here.

Plenty of 5-packs, mind.

Though it seems someone's been keen to liberate a wagon from here.

The Faun Quarry Dump Truck - a contender for the longest-lived Matchbox in the current line-up, with the casting dating back to 1976?

Seems to have a plastic tipper bed fitted these days, though.

Hot Wheels was a bit better served, with a new case opened:

Not really much into drag strip stars, but this was pretty nice too.

Because Tesco was missing a few key shopping items, I headed over to Sainsbury's.

Their Hot Wheels seemed to still be the previous case selection, and messily arranged at that.

10p dearer too.

Ah well.

Heh, they generally seem to show up locally, eventually.

The scarcity of Mattel stuff appears to be more of a distribution issue than a genuine rarity thing. Ultimately the cases filter through, and there's usually enough for everyone in the end.

That said, I've still not seen a single RS2000 anywhere here...

Even I've stopped picking those up after opening something like 12 identical boxes of long cards in Entertainer a few weeks ago. There were loads.

If I find any more I'll send one over to you.

But all the vans on the fleet would have been rebranded. The yellow colour was introduced in 1968, replacing the old dark green, so a Telecom Commer Step-Thru would be possible.

I appear to have joined a BookFace group dedicated to the BT Vanning.

Will see what photos can be found, if any

Possibly US-only releases? I don't think that sort of competition tractor pulling is so much of a thing in the UK (or wasn't in the late 80's anyway).

Oh look...  there's a Competition Arena playset to find for YOUR PATIO!

It had an arena entrance, grandstand, crush cars, a pulling sled...

You can even get a FULL PULL   (don't Google that)

Remarkably similar top of the front wing chipping too!  Think it deserves a yellow paint pen touch-up

Glad you posted this one, had forgotten about it as it's been tucked out of sight at the back of a cupboard...

I'm generally pretty uninterested in this sort of stuff, and that's a great example of why. If that was a standard-looking Alpine White Challenger I'd be beating a path to my nearest retailler to buy probably several examples, but that's just.... meh. Why invent a crappy colour scheme for a car when you'd have a huge captive market for a standard-looking version? That's probably my (secret) favourite car of all time and I just can't get excited about that toy at all. Shame.

Never seen much diecast to catch my eye in B&M before - usually just cases of Hot Wheels from years and years ago.

But I might wander over tomorrow lunchtime and see what's what... I remember Poundland stocking a load of Flying Customs a good few years back, and they were worth having.

(Of course I don't have them now!)
