Shite in Miniature II

Random: I bought some things off FB...

When I collected them the lovely people had polecats and ferrets and a nice garden. And a shed of toys they resell.

Let me have these for a tenner, which I thought was pretty generous, the cars are playworn for the most part but I remember being excited to have these cases as a kid...

Just back from the One Stop ebay collection point.

Was one of my absolute favourites as a kid.

MB No.9 Ford Escort RS2000 :)

Very nice. I vividly remember getting the green two pack one with the trailer and glider, wish that was still at my mum's house!

Those Cavaliers go for about £25 on ebay. Nice find.

I've still got that Berilet bin lorry from my childhood. It was great to play with. I love the 'Collectomatic' badge on the body and the Scottish Borders registration GSK 77T.

Quite a few Matchbox had registration marks from that area. As they were all fictitious I wonder if they had to pick an area where there were a lot of unused registration marks so they didn't risk picking a real one?

The MK4 Cortina was RSH 88T and the Bedford TM car transporter was RSH 16S.

Funny you should mention it - just back from checking out the Saturday boot sale, this was a 50p find

20220806_111500.thumb.jpg.2e2e611838844f74772050df60ae7228.jpg

Along with the 3 series cab in a two tone I wasn't aware of

20220806_111440.thumb.jpg.f9ded93b23a4fbbfafb0db05602bf5be.jpg

Grabbed two Tonkas for half a quid too

Not sure if those or this Corgi was the best 50p spend

There wasn't a lot else, one dealer had clearly gone around hoovering up all the toy cars and was asking 1-£3 for a lot of battered crap. Didn’t bother rummaging through his stock.

It was a proper old junk boot sale though, lots of interesting stuff on display

The boot sale near me is full of sellers that are greasy chanty-wrastlers.

Filthy battered toy cars and tools that are either at the bottom of a waterlogged box or are new but made of chocolate. I've also no idea who buys some of the 'trinkets', porcelain thimbles, brass goblets, broken power tools and a stall selling dog treats.

All priced at twelve million pounds each.

The good ones to go to are the village fete type ones in the arse end of nowhere, frequently they’ll sell decent stuff off for an absolute pittance. The ones to avoid are ones where the sellers have absolutely fuck all, they’re doing the boot sale to raise enough to put a fiver on the gas token. You wouldn’t entertain one in Rotherham let’s say, they’ve got fuck all. Ones near us used to be really good, last time I went it looked like 90% landfill. Occasionally you get diecast but often it’s fat old men that when you ask how much they are they’ll cryptically go ‘All different prices, pick some out and we’ll work out a price’ then when you do they’ll examine each and every one then come up with a figure resembling a Chicago telephone number. Then I’ll put them back in the box and repeat.

Last time I went some absolute bell end stood behind me and went to his wife ‘look he’s picking out all the old ones, I bet he’s selling them on eBay’. I’d got my five year old daughter with me but I’d have otherwise told him to keep his fucking nose out. I occasionally go when the wife wants to go but the places ultimately annoy me, it’s full of people that don’t know how to conduct themselves. The wife was intent on us doing a car boot this year but in the interests of me retaining my liberty we’ve decided to take it to the charity shop. My dad made me laugh once at a car boot, a guy was bidding him constantly on this tea set, wanting it for 50p or something. In the end he agreed, bagged it up, took the 50p and dropped the entire tea set in the bag on the floor, broke into about a zillion pieces. 🤣🤣

Back from Cheddar car boot.

Over 500 stalls of mostly shite. Not good Autoshite either.

Private sellers were mostly selling modern hotwheels.

Had a rummage through two dealers £1 boxes.

MB No.1. Late 60's. Must confess. Never had this as a kid but I liked it.

20220807_123043.thumb.jpg.8e9daf0e636dbc905dc264cd7ffd97f3.jpg

MB No.58. Late 60's. Girder truck. The Girders are long gone. Screen cracked too, which I didn't notice.

20220807_123101.thumb.jpg.40477fc2119b53aa903d7f509b3ab110.jpg

MB No.65. Airport Coach. Alitalia. Guessing early 80's. Had the BA one, never had this but liked it.

20220807_122957.thumb.jpg.2ca91861fcc54e0929491d1d27622814.jpg

MB No.41 Chevy Ambulance.

Had a few of these. Liked this model.

20220807_122942.thumb.jpg.7862bb78fdfbf992f0898ad58281af21.jpg

Then finally MB No.11. Bedford car transporter.

I'm glad I went.

I was selling today and barely broke even after getting in and buying a few bits.

Several sellers with the usual bucket o' Hot Wheels, I did grab a few for the custom box. Only interesting bits really were a tidy Red Rider

I reckon you're right - with the base upside down!

Looks like someone's had a go at restoring it not very carefully and stuck the base back in upside-down with big blobs of glue that have gone yellow. Hopefully you can get it off and turn it back the right way.

Did you buy anything? That Sierra looked like a bargain!

Sadly no.  On a fast dwindling budget and have my real car with me.

Solido is BANGING at the moment. I'm glad I have such self restraint, otherwise I'd be buried under 1:18s by now.

Absolutely. I didn't even realise that Solido did the Renault 21 and Fuego. They are firmly on my 'to buy' list.

Holiday purchase #1:

IMG_0977.thumb.JPG.ef2af92b38ab174becefaee2439820c4.JPG

The choice was limited, at least in the supermarket I found them yesterday. Others were strangely un-French, stuff like Fiat 500 and some sort of small Jeep/Fiat SUV. They were 2 Euros each.

Is this Kangoo Express available in the UK Matchbox range?

Also saw some 1:43 Norevs at 6-7 Euros a go, will wait until I get to a shop with a bit more range before I spend my pocket money on them. I'm here for most of another two weeks so there should be opportunity to find something interesting.
