bunglebus
Been avoiding eBay lately for the most part but I bought a small lot mainly for a colour changer It also came with this which has no markings at all, any ideas on brand or what it's supposed to be? Reminds me of the Cadillac Allante Sadly arrived with the screen broken so has been Krystal Kleered My reckoning is that it's a very, very poor rendition of a Mercedes R129. Funnily enough, I saw a real one being driven in Auckland last night, top down and with 4 people aboard! Oh - and hi, everyone. Still dipping in to this thread semi-regularly to read updates but super busy with work at the moment, hence not many replies. bunglebus and andrew e

Personally I like the 5 spokes in various colours, and the ones that look like Halibrands with the 3-eared spinner in the centre Yeh, it's the ones pictured I'm after. I think I'll feel a bit bad for the horrible offspring it'll produce, but I guess it can go to the charity shop. Is a wheel change easily done? I suppose Youtube will hold the answer. Well I think so but I'm always messing about with die casts. YouTube is indeed your best bet, you can always glue the base back on if you don't have a 2mm tap and screws etc. Hopefully your new axles will be a suitable width! bunglebus
So, what do you guys think of my little bug-ger? I've got a couple of these from when they were first released as a premium casting, now it's a mainline Mattel have made some changes, including a different base which has put the front wheels a long way forward. Altered this as it looked a bit odd, other than that it's paint and detail really. I had some really funky looking flame decals I wanted to use that one of you lot sent me, but they're so old they fell apart. Cut these out of some left over from a 57 Chevy model kit I built as a teenager w00dy, Datsuncog, andrew e and 5 others

I have one of those CX, the crummy wheels aside it’s a nice casting. The 205 though, it’s tat isn’t it, I have the Seat Ibiza of a similar era, if it didn’t say so on the base you’d have no clue as to what it was. Aren’t they both Mira? Guisval seemed much better by the 80’s. I seemed to remember a disproportions number of their models were advertising fags...
Split_Pin
Both Mira yes. The CX is definitely a comfort blanket. The slippery shape and solid construction make it great to pass too and fro between my hands usually whilst ruminating over something. I rather like the wheels as they aren't loose but still roll really free. Guisval went through a bad patch in the 1980s too though. My Renault 12 TS estate whilst not quite as solid as the CX in the wheels and suspension department still has a good casting, metal base, and is quite detailed. The Seat Malaga, Datsun Patrol and Audi 200 are just badly proportioned empty husks however, much like that 205. They must have quickly got their shit together because later offerings such as the Opel Kadett E, later versions of the Seat 131, BMW CSL and Ford Granada are back the game although this time with a plastic base. I consolidated a small selection of my Majorettes, Norevs and another assorted European diecasts into my wardrobe shelf the other day, to keep my Tomicas happy, which, by the way, very much pass the same tactile test as the CX! andrew e, sierraman, Remspoor and 1 other

Datsuncog
#clubwardrobe here also... The Matchbox stuff in the blue carry-cases used to live in a couple of wall display cases in the old house; however, I'm not sure if those will reappear in the design scheme for the new place. Also #clubunderbed... Not sure what's to become of these either. I've the recent Corgi Model Club repros in the top of the bureau I currently work from, along with some other odds and ends. But the bureau's also slated for rehoming, so who knows... Pity the married diecast collector. 😆 AndyW201, Split_Pin, RoadworkUK and 2 others
