Matchbox super kings are getting bloody expensive - when boxed.

I remember going to toy fairs late '90s and early '00s and picking up NOS Super Kings and Speed Kings for a couple of quid each. Even when I sold up a decade or so ago I got next to nothing for them. :(

Models of Yesterday still seem pretty cheap on ebay, though.

Much more desirable than those God-awful 1/36 scale Dinky models of the late 1970s. The Princess and Volvo 265 are nice though, still shite models though. They should have stuck to nice 1/43 models like the Spanish Dinkys, with the traditional cars box. Fuck it, they were going bust anyway.

The bean counters were hard at work at that time - most of the dinky toys had plastic bases.

I don't mind that so much, more the terribly proportioned wheels. They added those to some otherwise good 1/43 models such as the lovely Citroen Dyane and it totally ruined it, same goes for the MK1 Escort.

we've been to the NEC today for the toy fair there. and no, there wasn't any stinky folks there, but there were a couple of fellas rolling about in one of them scooter things like Davros..... oh yes and having a hits of the 1960's music on in the back ground  usually doesn't cause too many problems, but as one of the tracks was Rolf Harris Tie My Kangaroo Down Sport, well that could be a mistake and all. at a TOY FAIR!!

but no matter, while it was really bits of train set i was look for, but i did manage to complete this buyage

this is the presentation pack Corgi did for Rover to commemorate the Mini Thirty.

every owner of the car got one included, its a 1/36th diecast Mini Thirty on cherry metalic, and a leather bound copy of Rob Goldings's book. hence it been a run of 3.000, to match the car! this one is number 2150, the numbered card is included.

well as i would have loved one of these when new, and now it seems unlikely i will ever get to own one, at least i can have the toy version instead! the cost, well it was a not unreasonable £20. especially as a guy at the other end of the hall had one in a poorer condition box for £50!!

Ooh that's very nice indeed and a snip too. I remember seeing that in the Collector Club Magazine and how amazing it looked. I have the 'regular' Thirty in its box which my mum bought for me in 1989, I was so delighted with it. I've also got the other 4 special 30th anniversary edition models that Corgi made that year: Sky, Rose, Flame and Racing.

Re: Dinkys, that SD1 is so crude I may just have to buy one to compare it with the contemporary Corgi example.

Dinky did some very strange things in their latter years that no doubt contributed to their demise. I read somewhere that right at the end they were due to introduce a new bus. Was it a nice Leyland National, Bristol VR or something that could be seen everywhere and would sell to kids and bus modellers alike? Hell no, they called it a 'Continental Touring Coach' but it was actually an American city bus in the colours of Liverpool Football Club. WTAF were they thinking?!

A few of the Dinky tools lived on in the Spanish Auto Pilen range.

The Spanish modified those tools to make even better models than the originals were.

The nicest of the bunch must be the 2CV, admittedly from a Dinky France tool, though.

Which brings me to another point - the French fucked it up even more than the English.

Jake: What the hell is this?

Elwood: This was a bargain. I picked it up at the Mount Prospect city police auction last spring. It's an old Mount Prospect police car. They were practically giving 'em away.
