Shite in Miniature II

I have 2 of those Princesses, one mint and boxed in the white and black and the other was bronze. I repainted the latter in Ford Bermuda blue with a black roof. That's the colour that mid 80s Fiestas and mk2 Escorts were available in Dunno why I painted it that colour, model looks ok but the real car would look terrible lol.

I used to use acetate to repair broken windows. Worked ok on my Corgi Marina

Yes, I have a stock of thin clear plastic (boxes, shirt stiffeners, etc) that I use for replacing broken windows. It's free, and handy stuff.

Bermuda Blue? BL did issue Princesses in a nice pale blue, perhaps not as pale as that.

We're the Sweeney and we haven't had any dinner!

Being a massive fan of The Sweeney, I bought an example of this small but perfectly-formed model in London today. Regan and Carter would surely approve, as would the bloke who's restoring the real car.

I also bought the Vanguards version of VHK 491S, the silver mark 2 2.8iS used in the final series

3, 2, 1, project Ital is nearly done....

My commissioned master is now pretty much done with just the wheel hubs and headlight lenses to go and there will be the worlds first model of a Morris Ital saloon coming to the 'bay ready for bizarre and slightly crazy slot car men to use.

Well if we already have a Vanguards Nova, why not? It could easily be re-detailed to make MG, VDP, police and even van versions. And from here it's only a short step to Maestro and Montego too...

For some reason BL stuff just passes under the radar of the mainstream manufacturers. I think Vanguards should do stuff like this more in the same way that the German, French and Japanese model companies concentrate on domestic subjects. There are far too many duplicates in the Vanguards range. The way the car trend is shifting nowadays I'm sure there's enough nostalgia for unloved 80s cars but maybe it's the lack of motorsport variants that puts them off doing them.

The NEO Metro is nicely detailed if a little dumpy but I don't think I can justify it. Good to see though.

I hadn't realised that Martin had put it up there, some interesting comments below but hopefully I'll sell a few to those mad enough. I've had a word with my men on the inside and they should be for sale by the end of May for £20 a pop. If I recouperate enough from them I'll be getting a van version done next year after a FIAT 643 truck cab and Italian job Bedford Val this year.

I'd be amazed if Vanguards did a Maestro or Montego tbh. And I don't expect a Metro from them either although that would be slightly more feasible.

When they did Marinas / 1800s / Princesses a few years back they were an absolute disaster. Every wholesaler had masses of them unsold. Only when they dropped them to 1/3rd of the original trade price did they start to sell and even then it was a slow process. The Vanguards range has come an awful long way in the last few years since Corgi were takenover and I can't see them going back to making that sort of mistake again. At least I hope not.

You could see a Maestro or Montego from Neo though - possibly an MG version. Its a lot easier and more cost effective to produce a small number of something in resin than diecast.

As far as the Metro goes, the Neo picture does make it look a bit dumpy which it actually isn't. But I don't really fancy photoing it myself tbh!

How cool is this then?! Hyundai Pony all the way from Korea arrived on my desk this morning! It comes in 3 colours and naturally I went for the shittiest :P

It's in the slightly odd scale of 1/38 but it comes in a nice Hyundai branded box and even has a pull back motor and opening doors!!!

That pony is ace! I've got the next gen one in silver although its quite playworn. Picked it up at a swapmeet in 1996.

Why is the Turboleader going in a cupboard? IKEA do nice glass tower display cabinets for 40 notes. I have 2 and was v impressed with the quality and they accomodate 3 1/24 scale trucks in a row with ease!

Yeah it's dust that's the problem - finally got me an ebay glass cabinet today, although I'm now one down completely written off and have quite a long backlog of repairs on the rest, they definitely get more delicate with age! :(
