I think my real one is Scarab Blue yeah so I guess that's correct for the M-reg model. Not fussed about the Vanguards S1 - although mine's only a two-litre is looks broadly similar to the Vanguards V8

Good stuff - will see what turns up, sure!

I think the '73 3500S in Scarab Blue was a limited-edition run (1500 produced, maybe?), so it's a bit tougher to find, but - anything's possible!

I kinda fancy that S1 P6 myself, so that could all work out well.

I've the S2 in Avocado Green, but got rid of my Tobacco Brown S1 because it had a weirdly warped base with a gap between door and sill, so didn't display all that well.

Still, it was playing with some utterly trashed 1950s Dinkys and Matchbox on wet lunchtimes c.1985 which sparked my interest in really old toys, along with finding this book in the library...

Toy Cars Book - Gardiner & O'Neill - Hardback, very good condition ...

So maybe my work here is done.

I have that book somewhere, along with many others to aid research. Back in the 1990s when I ws collecting Ferrari models I managed to find a copy of this in Foyles. Never did find the other volumes though.

The Rover P6 3500S Scarab Blue, Export Specification, RHD, model number VA06520, was a limited edition of 1,000 pieces.

Eagerly awaiting tat Friday. Ten pound Vanguards are not to be sniffed at in the current climate....

Also re; the shop marking up the prices, I'm not surprised as in the short time I've been looking to buy old toy cars the prices (at least of the ones I want) have really gone through the roof on ebay.

Kidco Corvette and no-name 300ZX key cars, at £1 a throw.

Majorette beach buggy with yellow wheels and a front light bar, at £2.

Texaco and Agip transfers look like they're Scalextric waterslides added on by a young owner, not Majorette originals.

Though I could be wrong...

That plastic fantastic looks interesting - might be up for that, think it might be related to the Impulse/Imperial copies of Matchbox cars.

Could it belong inside this Pinch Poppers van?

It's always worth pointing out just in case anyone gets the wrong idea.

Been a while since I did this, so here's the Mercuries (minus one which I forgot about)

20230316_131957.thumb.jpg.c50126e1834fc925def67e77dc717862.jpg

The Mebetoys

20230316_133255.thumb.jpg.3974e898074a8541337dee693cc35307.jpg

And the Politoys

20230316_132651.thumb.jpg.2c7d8ee3a9df48b986c3767016f3231b.jpg

And if that counts as a 'collection' I don't know what more to say. Just a couple of interesting bits, nothing weird or obsessive about it at all. Just a couple. Just don't ask to see my Pilens, alright mate?

It was bugging me and I found it!

Brilliant collection of die-cast by the way.  So much bella figura in one post

What I hadn't really noticed until I put it in the loft earlier, was that the same casting came with forks or a snowplough

Majorette Unimog

That one ^ also came of one of you the other day

Yes they are, and I am doing that sniffing.

And my model-hunting goes exactly the same way, and has done for sixty years.  Funny how everything I want shoots up the moment I think of it!

If you tracked that down purely on the basis of that one picture that's really impressive work (unless you can read Japanese). It's a good album! The other visible records are Max Roach's The Loadstar (a new chance discovery for me) and Peter Hammil's Fool's Mate, before you wear yourself out...

You learn something new every day. I mentioned when I found the new Hot Wheels 72 Stingray that I liked the headlights being made as part of the glazing. It seems it has another trick up its sleeve too

I've seen no mention of this anywhere before, nothing on the pack. If there's a moving part it's usually shown as a diagram on the back. Hopefully there will be others, Trans-O-Lite isn't dead!

Will see what shows up in the crates come the morning!

Just to say, tomorrow's a public holiday here so I'll only be swinging past the market in the morning - bit of a 'one and done' situation.

I'll try to get some pics posted up around 9am, and I may be able to hang around for a short while afterwards, in case there's anything anyone's mad keen for me to secure on their behalf - but come 10 o'clock I'll need to be hitting the road, so it's gonna be a brief event with no lunchtime second round this week!

Catch you on the flipside...
