Just for a change, postie man arrived sweating from lugging various boxes of random toy cars to me.

Some were obtained from you lot!

Maybe I should have asked @AndyW201to get the Land Rover too for completeness, I just don't get very excited about them

@Macscroogeprovided this Matchbox Cadillac hearse. I love this casting, and the story of Matchbox having to convert it to an ambulance after pressure from certain groups upset by a toy with association to death.

This isn't the only hearse that arrived today either

@flat4alfafound me a new colour of the Matchbox New(ish) Beetle

And an unexpected bonus

This week I have been mostly buying these.

Opel Lotus Omega is 1 I've been looking out for for some time,so it was nice to get it fairly cheap (£15)

The Bburago Escort is going to need a lot of work, but at a fiver it can sit in a box for a while

Ducati Desert X was a nice suprise as I had only popped into a shop for a nose around .

May have to go back for a proper rummage now I've just seen what else is in case F on youtube...

Here's another thing I didn't know until just now.

Kenner Fast 111s but sold under the Palitoy name in the UK

Remember this ^?

Yeah. I  bid on it

20230310_180654

I know the styling is a bit marmite on these, but I'm impressed that Palitoy/Kenner actually paid attention to the markets they were trying to sell in (you listening Mattel?) and put UK number plates on the vehicles intended for us. However they didn't quite get it right - number plate nerds such as myself won't be happy with FFE 073X as it it would never have been issued.

20230310_180719

The article I refer to on these says only early releases show the individual car and some specs on the back of the card along with the registration card - later we got Kenner branded cards that were more generic

20230310_180733

I noticed the seller had some others too

20230310_180457

Plate is LHW 777X, full marks this time

20230310_180535

Back of the pack shows a blue version though

20230310_180248

This blue version in fact

20230310_180205

HKG 199X - excellent

20230310_180234

Dynamo is recognisable as an E30 BMW

20230310_18033720230310_180415

at least from the front. Plate is CDL 018X - fail

20230310_18042520230310_180756

Lastly we have Piston Pusher, which by its own admission is a funny car and so has no business bearing any sort of number plate

20230310_180605

However ETT 991X is a perfectly valid registration

20230310_180632

Rear of the card shows a yellow version

Poor Escort. Chances of a spares car is fairly slim sadly, I was lucky to find this complete one (bar the boot spoiler) a few years back

Why such a popular car, both as everyday transport and in motorsport saw so little attention from toy makers when it was current I'll never know

What be that white plasticy yankee, bottom left?

It's a plastic-bodied Hot Wheels of uncertain origin and parentage - but yes, I think if you were to sniff it there'd be a faint whiff of Happy Meal still lingering... A bit of Cadillac and a bit of Avanti do seem to be in the mix somewhere!

Was Majorette BMW organgy thing top left £3?

Also on top row in red Mercedes C111, who did that one?  It it the Lintoy with the clockworking motorisation like this?

20210108_143534.jpg

If so for £3 yes please.  But is it though... as there is a Days Gone next to it with PRICE TAG

jessie-j-price-tag.gif

I... didn't actually notice the BMW on the top left until you pointed it out! Haven't a clue what the price was, or even if it's Majorette. Daah.

But yes - the Merc C111 has got that exact same weird mechanism underneath, so it probably is the Lintoy - I didn't see any manufacturer name, but then there was a big sticker covering much of it. Made in Hong Kong was visible though - and it was in very good condition.

I can't remember the price, annoyingly - but I'm fairly sure it was no more than £5. Hopefully less.

The Lesney Maserati Bora one shelf down was £4, I can remember that...

Cor.

So you have the missing part from the parts donor last week

I have jealousy

I wonder if it could be dibbsed one day.  Asking for a friend.

Yes, that thought did cross my mind... I'll try cleaning both of them up a little, and see what's what.

I do intend to gather together the best versions possible of the late '60s King Size models, so the Regular Wheels Miura forms an important part of that - I just need a Charger and a Mercury Commuter squad car to complete a preliminary collection of moderately good examples. Of course, once better examples arise these will need rehoming, so... Noted.

Aww...  I wish I'd screen grabbed or quoted it!

It was epic.

Heh, it was a rant... but probably unfair. His shop, his rules.

If it works ok for him - I dunno how it does, but he's been there for like fifteen years now so he must be doing something right - then it's my choice to go in or not. And today, for the first time in nearly three years, I did...

I'll have another look next week...

Not found that one. I've got a few loose Fast 111s, most have no number plate or an American one - I think the plates were supplied loose so you could chose what you wanted to use on the Kenner versions

Well I'll be dipped. One of my Outlawers has a UK plate too

Perhaps maybe as outside of the UK, the Escort was seen as a hopped-up “shopping car”.  That’s a direct quote my cousin gave me when lived in Australia for the year !

It's called The Gov'nor and this one is from a 2007 Blast & Crash track set. Now I see it from this angle I've changed my mind, he can keep it!

Yes, pretty grim.
You’ve still won the top bombing award for the evening though
