Uh oh

Tell you what, I wish I was into Dinky or Matchbox or whatever because these places do seem like a great opportunity to pick up that stuff. Nevertheless, I did manage to find something of interest

Okay, I already have one but this is in slightly nicer condition and is a different colour. Slippery slope?

Also this, just because why not. It's obviously a repaint (and I HATE Gulf livery anything) but quite nicely done and wasn't outrageously priced. More than anything I just wanted to justify getting up on a Sunday and driving to a toy fair by not leaving empty handed.

Please to say I was by far the youngest person in the room, as well as the coolest (by a factor of about one million) and also most probably the person who had showered most recently

That’s why me and @bunglebus go really, it’s like being  in a Wetherspoons that doesn’t sell beer 😂

It's been a while since I restored any old toys so I decided to have a go at this Dublo Dinky Land Rover that I think came from @eddyramrod a few years back.

Original ones are worth decent coin but as this one had already been repainted I didn't feel guilty doing a custom. They only came from the factory in a bright green towing a horsebox, but dark green with ivory wheels is the classic Landie colour scheme so that's what I went for. For a 60-year old toy the casting is superb with all the little details present and correct and it doesn't look out of place with modern models.

Then there's the Bedford OB from @Macscrooge's recent sale. I already had one in the same colours that also cost £2 off the market, so now there are two in the fleet. The new one (on the left) is an EFE and the other a Corgi for "who did it worst?" opportunities.

Right. After exhuming my 1/18 Bburago from my parents loft last weekend,  I've cleaned them up this weekend. Unfortunately, they've been badly stored. Boxes were hanging filthy dirty and the models must have been really dusty before they were individually wrapped in old towel material and popped into an open box. On some, the paint has started to bubble slightly in a couple of places. The F40 bonnet red paint was flat as a pancake and I literally had to use cutting compound to try and bring it back. Add to that, I'd forgotten that as a car-crazy kid, I'd pulled off the wheels and taken the models apart so many times over the years that the front suspension setup on both the F40 and TestaRossa is damaged and ideally needs complete replacement from a donor. As for the 300sl, the snapdragon yellow repaint I gave it with the leftovers from when I blew in some panels on my Metro is tired, but still looks pretty good in my eyes. Unfortunately the bonnet hinge lugs are broken so I could do with a donor for that, too.

So, in all, a frustrating outcome.

One lovely little surprise though. In with my Bburago was this Hong Kong made, large (16cm) plastic bodied Imp Californian I'm guessing? I think it was one of the last things I ever bought at a swapmeet, at least 25 years ago. No maker's mark on it though.

These Cararama Volkswagens were in amongst the models too! They must a similar age.

If anyone spots a cheap 1/18;donor F40, Testa Rossa and/or Mercedes 300sl, do let me know!

Wow! Proper rarity then! Shame mine doesn't have the box. It's a keeper anyway.

I've also discovered my Corgi Collector magazines running from November 1986 all the way up to December 1993. I'm in two minds whether I keep or sell for a minute. Is there much of a market for them?

Unusual for you! 🤣

(In my mind, the car has had the locks shaved and remote solenoid locks fitted, like my MK2 Fiesta in 1993...)

I was a year behind and a mark ahead - my Mk1 lost its boot lock, badges and number plate off the tailgate in 1994

I shaved the badges, passenger door handle, badge humps and front indicators of my 1972 VW Variant, this was 1987.

I'd be interested to know where this fair is assuming it's not too far away from me?  I believe you are in Brighton so quite close to where I live.

Does anyone have a half decent Audi TT MK1 model that they'd be willing to sell?

I have a 'Corgi' Realtoy one which is actually an exact replica of mine but it would be good to get a few more. I used to have a Revell 1/18 example in grey but it was swept away in the Great Purge©️

I have this Welly 1/32? which I think is pretty nice.

Any roffle interest in these? 42 magazines all in excellent condition from November 1986 up to December 1993.

5 tickets for £2. I'll start a separate roffle thread if so. Otherwise I'll stick them on the 'bay.

Crikey I've still got all of those from 1989 to 1993. I loved these although I sold all the vans some years ago as the magazines were much more interesting. Definitely a nice thing for someone to have.

It was in Ashington, where they seemingly have one a month - plus lots of others at other times in other places. It wasn't very big and was probably about 50% train stuff, but I got there quite late and have very narrow interests. I hope clicking this link will take you to the calendar of forthcoming events... https://www.modeltoyauctions.co.uk/news/2021/9/2022-toyfair-dates-june-2022-update/8BF7A4F9D59D89705A7A53C2886D325E/
