Beatties, I used to get my Brumm and Box 1/43rds in a branch of theirs in London. I trying to remember where it was, but it was almost 40 years ago.

Would it have been the original store on Winchmore Hill Road, Southgate?

Beatties, 10 The Broadway, Southgate, London N14

Beatties, 112 High Holborn, London WC1

Beatties, 363 Lewisham High Street, London SE13

These were the London stores before Richard Konstamm (as in RIKO) bought them and expanded across the UK

Yatming rip off. Front end is more LTD than mercury.

Have the same one.  I don't think it is a rip, as Yatming provided models with name removed from base casting to other distributors such as Imperial, who just put their brand sticker over where Yatming was usually seen

I have one, with the correct Yatming wheels and Yatming code number

I can see more in there - early Hot Wheels Custom Baracuda, MC Toys Granada - and what's the red Mercury Commuter (?) next to the Granada?

Also please tell me that's not a Hot Wheels Rolls next to the Barracuda - I've been after one for years

It is.

My majorette. Some matchbox and husky. I really like majorette but they are quite expensive.

What are the Renault 5 and Ford Escort Mk1 to the right of the Hot Wheels Rolls Royce?

Doesn't look like the Majorette Renault 5

The silver one is majorette.

The gold essy and R5 are polistil.

Yes I have the Majorette and know the bonnet air intake is plastic, so couldn't place it without.

1:64 Escort a new one on me, do have the 1:43 by them with the daft Limo doors.

Polistil R5 and escort. I gave a pound each - they sell for north of £30 mint boxed - I bought some boxed ones for a fiver each some years ago but at current prices I wont be adding to them.

Crikey.  £1...

I remember the real thing on one of the TV shows, well, the Muntz Jet that was developed from the Kurtis, that Wayne Carini had for a while

Local Tesco and Morrisons visited to see what they had. Only the latter had anything that seemed to be new/worthwhile, some new MBX laying direct on the shelf at £1.80 each. I got the '95 Nissan truck in Cycle Runner livery. No new HWs in either of them for some time.

Tesco did have what might have been a new selection of 5-packs at £9 each, including the tempting wagons and also the German cars with brown Mercedes estate.

Might have a chance to get to a different store tomorrow.

BTW, what's with the FedEx stickers on the new Matchbox packs? Didn't realise until I got home they're just stickers on both the front and rear of the card. They were on everything, not related to a livery on the diecast itself.

So today, while working* I spent 5hrs driving to two auction houses in Chippenham and Worcester, to pick up a few* models I won  bought at auction.

The highlight was this.

20230213_193352.thumb.jpg.6dc6ad8b30b68d905cd8117a8c6ae65b.jpg

A Sunstar 1/24 Routemaster.

A coke bottle for scale.

20230213_193110.thumb.jpg.4fbb08861c402136fc944df0c4e34497.jpg

No idea why I purchased this, as I don't collect them. I think I just wanted one to pass through my hands, so I could tick the box.

A lot like a large number of real life motors I've had.

Weirdly Mrs Cookie really likes it and has started saying a shelf needs to be put up, so it can be displayed.

It can't get onto ebay fast enough, to save me from DIY :)

I wondered why they decided on CYCLE

20230211_144429.jpg

rather than DESERT on the real thing

Nissan built 1000 of them to commemorate success on Baja 1000 for 1998.

There is no cycling on the Baja 1000.  Fighting the sand would do your knees in.

Yes.  That.  To make yesterdays trip out not seem so worthless, had to choose between BROWN Mercedes W123 pack or this pack with the blue 'woody' Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser.

The Woody Won.

So while the sun was out at lunchtime, a Yatming FORD LTD popped over for the unboxing

The DAGS seemed happy enough

IMG_20230213_131042_1.thumb.jpg.2487614e85394a2133491dffc7103cea.jpg

Do have a white Olds Vista somewhere in one of the oh-why-did-I-buy-that boxes of unopened packs.  Perhaps that can go to part-fund this blue one

Didn't have this one when I was little - it was probably discontinued.

Was only produced during four year period from 1968.  Superfast wheel was 1970-71.  Cant have sold that well?  There doesn't seem to be that many survivors, compared to others

Replaced by No.25 Mod Tractor, no less.  Which survive everywhere!
