You've done rather well there! The Hotwheels DeTomaso Pantera would be my pick of the bunch. I imagine flogging that would go some way to covering your purchase.

Nice.

The whole back row are Hotwheels, the VW camper is a Road Signature and a couple of Maistos to finish off.

But yes,the Detomaso is my pick of the bunch.

I was going to post the Matchbox earlier, definitely my favourite.

Old, new

The new Matchbox looks very similar to the Tomica

2000x.webp?source_format=JPG

Tomica also did a Twin Cam 1/43rd in their Dandy range. Lots and lots of colour variations to be found.

I'd forgotten about the Matchbox recasting.  It seems I've got one of those too - but have never removed it from the bubble card!  That's how much attention the 'still boxed' ones get - just tucked away into a bigger box, then forgotten about..

The trouble is: do I, or don't I, unwrap it?  Will it kill the investment potential?  Probably not, but the worry lingers..

The other trouble is: boxed/carded ones can't be displayed about the house, because wife will very likely complain about 'living in a toy shop'.  Which is fair.

I always thought the Europa just looked a bit home made, a bit like a lash up built in a shed.

Well you may have a point there.  Production was one car a week, test driven on the airfield runway behind

Earliest versions of the Europa had the body fully bonded to the chassis, with fixed side windows, fixed seats (adjustable pedals needing the use of tools), no door handles, no internal door covers

Series 1A and B had removable side windows, wooden dashboard, internal door panel covers which could accommodate the windows once taken off  [wikipedia.org]

I converted a few Matchbox Europas the the solid Super GT shell. I always thought the Europa just looked a bit home made, a bit like a lash up built in a shed. Nothing illustrates that more than those awful periscopes on the white one.

That white one is not strictly speaking a Europa, it’s a Type 47 .  Basically a Breadvan Europa with a Twin Cam , years before the S2 Europa  lost the Renault 16 lump. Predominately for racing , although I once worked with a bloke that used one as his road car in the late 60’s.

That specific periscope model is based on this ;

A Works car driven by John Miles and Jackie Oliver the year before getting Lotus F1 drives, there’s a good reason all Lotuses look like they were built in a shed…

Two more have turned up!  A (reasonably tidy!) Super GT and a blue Superfast

It's all too much, can't keep track of what there is here, etc.

Crumbs, I'd forgotten all about those Hongwell Europas - yes, picked up from Poundland in about 2005 or so. Six different colourways, but I don't think I bought all of them.

Might have kept one for myself, I can't remember now.

This Lotus love-in has jogged my memory that I also had a Tomica Europa as well - though one of the mid-90s ones that came in a blister pack, rather than an original JDM card box example shown upthread. Dark green with yellow side stripes, I think.

Can't think what became of that - I definitely don't have it anymore, but from photos it wasn't around when I disposed of the bulk of my Tomica mini-collection in 2018.

I've only a metallic pinky-silver Superfast version these days, my rough Whizzwheels example (from a market 50p tub) having been jettisoned back at the start of last year.

Weird-looking cars alright, though I kinda like them.

As you may recall I'm trying to collect all the cars for my Corgi Transporter GS, so I bid on a job lot of Minis and won them for a not unreasonable £25, no postage as I collected them from down the road. (should have made a collection thread!)

That gift set looks absolutely fantastic! It does look just like they should from the catalog pictures. Is it all staying out on display now!?

Your new Mini’s look like a good find too.

Thanks I love it (again haha) and yes I've decided to put some of my favourite toys out on the shelves in one of the spare rooms. The C30s will stay in the cabinet with Mrs Concern's tin robots.

I'm happy with the Minis even though they weren't exactly a bargain unlike the box of stuff from you!

I'll be nipping into Morrisons later, although if the MB contract with Tesco ends in March, I can't see Morrisons getting stock in till then. And even then, probably not until the next new case comes out.

Encouraging news though, our local Morrisons is where I get.the majority of my Hot Wheels purchases, even though they're usually one or two cases behind, most of the time.

Hi @Datsuncog If you have the chance please pick up any Matchbox Volvo C30s that aren't gold (not sure if there's a red one lurking in the pic near the bottom)

IMG_20230120_082706~2.jpg

And also the Majorette Citroen C4VTS in green (If there's one in black or red I'd prefer it but not too fussy)

IMG_20230120_082817~2.jpg

If it's difficult then no problem and thanks anyway

Is that a new release?

Assuming you meant the Citroen, it seems not: https://majorette-model-cars.fandom.com/wiki/Citroën_C4_Coupé

But some had a clear spoiler, not a black one, so not as clear from some angles.

I assume the base on all is this
