These Marx lorries also came along for the ride, the first one I found was repainted and it took me a good while to work out who made it!

Another Tonka Fun Buggy for my collection

Talking of Tonkas, these two have survived amazingly well

Corgi Beetle is going in the resto pile - I have another in the spares box which will help

Tomte Lardal T1 pickup is not a Galanite, so that's OK.

20230128_123513.thumb.jpg.56ee2663b5ea679369eee78b96da3253.jpg

This thing is really cool. Joal Chaparral features a height and pitch adjustable aerofoil and opening fuel caps. Shame that door is missing

Purple Dinky Bimmer

20230128_123038.thumb.jpg.efb811993a08d330f3b844a3735bac2c.jpg

Also Dinky but from a completely different era. Dash is especially appealing for some reason

20230128_122912.thumb.jpg.99f86eba12814af8ac70e2c789f9e498.jpg20230128_122926.thumb.jpg.fa042849e93e55aecf255794645a408f.jpg

Corgi Whizzwheels Citroen is a bit mad. Not seen one before, impressed it still has the door window frames etc, loving the parcel shelf too

20230128_122702.thumb.jpg.7aac729cfb84e7892b70fcbaa1530cc9.jpg20230128_122708.thumb.jpg.6edc1e10769130ea09132d462d7a2b76.jpg20230128_122824.thumb.jpg.903976ba5f62395a02e61526b522b834.jpg

This one leaves me with mixed feelings. Lots of separate chrome bits, opening parts - but the plastic base means it feels oddly light, missing that pleasing heft of the older cars. Still like it though

20230128_122128.thumb.jpg.38fbcf8518e286ceca0a186eb4ba07c6.jpg20230128_122217.thumb.jpg.16e4a3011238e57a9a186f63760108ea.jpg20230128_122135.thumb.jpg.6120f445749d3bcc7ec08e565f37d70e.jpg

A few Matchbox from various eras

20230128_121813.thumb.jpg.d42cd4e5a7a6fea10b8b39b9379456bc.jpg20230128_121738.thumb.jpg.c14fa40867fa0dd56bfcc7c61c2b14e0.jpg20230128_121633.thumb.jpg.e0f57dd3785c01ecd9199913572268b4.jpg20230128_121509.thumb.jpg.b215a9ba795fd2d594e39bbcfb3deea8.jpg

This one's a great find - Road Blasters version of the Ruff Trek. Hard to find with the plastic bits intact

20230128_121353.thumb.jpg.fbbc59502c104b18c03512f83729aa02.jpg

And lastly a tidy but engineless Cougar Dragster...

I’m 99% sure the STP decal on the bonnet of the last one is not original. That car, and the black wagon and two T birds were mine from childhood, and I’m sure I got a sticker set with number plates etc etc from somewhere or other.

Here's the source of that STP sticker, Dan:

From personal experience, they ended up on everything and anything, back in the day...

Absolutely loads of what I believe to be Welly, and a couple of Summer

I have this, and it's always seemed a remarkably nice little model, feel, shape and proportion wise – especially compared with the other Wellys.

I suspect quite a lot of them are copies or re-used castings from other manufacturers - for example that Beetle cabrio

Oh and the error on the base of the Merc 300 SL

Don't know how clear that is but it says 300 ZL...

The charger and others went on to become PG tips giveaways with pull-back motors

They were also sold under other names - I found these sets branded Playmakers

Anyone have any Kaido house they want to sell or trade? I really want a 510 wagon.

I'm also after cycling team cars or cars with bikes on the roof and anything Travis Pastrana. I have the Monster truck but that is all.

I think these are made by the same company (Imperial) that made my Sand Digger copies with the sticky roller underneath

Found this today.

VW looks like a matchbox copy.

20230129_155258.thumb.jpg.7a8a8fa44b20f99181267e682cd55f5c.jpg

Well that confirms my suspicions.

Both the VW (Sand Digger) and pickup (Mini Pickup) are Matchbox copies, although I say both are copies of copies as I believe Impulse got there first.

Shame I didn't find that set!

Just picked these up in Tesco. The Caddy is awesome!

IMG_20230129_135844_977.jpg

Ohh... didn't know there had been a retool of the Bustleback Seville.  Oh no, that meant having to check  https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/Cadillac_Seville and then start fussing about getting into town to try and get hold of one

In the meantime, your post made Tom pop into the boxes of tat to fish out an original first-release casting example from the eighties to get a quick fix

Also hadn't realised there was some value in these

The temptation to paint over the silver part with gold is being suppressed!  For now.

...anyway

Big Tesco was a big waste of time.  I don't know why other parts of the country are better supported.  I mean, just look at that mess.  The top tags are for Matchbox 5 packs and next to them the Hot Wheels 5 packs.  No singles whatsoever, even of Hot Wheels.  But why?

IMG_20230129_155526_1.thumb.jpg.6157bd8d352e9dbc8f565dd4cb4ef238.jpg

Which meant having to drive all the way to the nearest Smyths.  In GUNSMOKE LUTON.

...Smyths  didn't have any Cadillac Sevilles after all.  Drives me potty, trying to look down into the racks of Hot Wheels mainlines and having to pull each aside to find a particular model when half of them came of the runner and fell down, as usual.  Grrr.

So in a fit of despair ended up with these just to cheer myself up.  The Boulevard Rover P6 and the AutoStrasse Mercedes

IMG_20230129_173608_2.thumb.jpg.1c6f639cea655ec850dd18a2e31fec2b.jpg

The shame of it all

At least the petrol wasn't wasted.  That's what I told myself, at the tills.  Managed to make it back without getting shot, not even once.

And why spend that sort of money and take such a risk?  Well I also told myself (still at the tills as there was a queue) that tonight is the monthly pub quiz at my local and I will probably be putting that money behind the bar anyhow.  But we might win like last month!  Still, the shame of it all.
