As @bunglebus said! The two green ones both have different wheel types, hence why I kept both! The red one with beige roof is the Lincoln Continental.

Interesting. A cursory look on ebay shows a couple of wheel types. Weird thing is, in my head mine had wheels like this, but was definitely a Mercury Commuter with the dags looking out of the tailgate. However, they don't actually seem to exist...

I’m not sure the commuter wagon had that wheel. My two have the old Lesney style wheel with silver centre & black tyre similar to a mini Corgi or Dinky wheel. The other has the thinner super fast (I think) wheel.

Regular wheels, auto-steer. Superfast narrow, Superfast wide with enlarged arches

The last one is hard to find in green, more often red (fire) or white (police)

Yes, enlarged arching.

Ask THE DAGS in the red one how they know

Does anyone have a rough Commuter with intact DAGS that can donate to the Villager?  It’s lonely in there

Also, are many in the photos of peril fitted with the middle set of wheels?  They are welcome here

Right, I'm now actively looking for one with superfast wide wheels. No cigar yet - if anyone on here is selling or spots one, please let me know!

They're quite unusual - I was very pleased to spot mine in a job lot! There appear to be exactly none on eBay at the moment

1980 Chevrolet Caprice in 1:64 by Greenlight.

I think the idea is to apply your own emergency service livery. I bought it just for the base model / fleet vehicle look.

I like the new packaging, too - less material, less weight, takes up less space, and much easier to open.

Goes well with the other two Italian-styled German low-volume production coupés. I like the Audi 100C and Capri they did, but these are a bit outside of my theme so I doubt I'll pursue these.

Shame-quote time. A mere two weeks later...

tythf.thumb.jpg.2065dfc808a0d7a41aede9037d2065a4.jpg

So much for "Ta-da!  Collection complete!"

Well the Buicks were 99p for three.  The JPS Lotus was 99p, so was Chitty

Didn't notice before as I was distracted by Belfast Buses. That Kenworth is an obscure Corgi, 1/76 scale, produced for the 2002 James Bond series and never seen again. Not a great looker as it comes but can be made pretty cool, as I did with mine - repaint in Ford Purple Velvet (my favourite colour), new wheels and plenty of chrome.

My username comes from my own fleet, nowhere near the same scale as the big ones and I don't bother with things such as timetables and vehicle rosters, but it gives a better reason for my collection to exist and adds more interest than just a random collection of models. I've never heard of that fleet though so it's possibly not an MBF member.

I bloody love that.

In a way, I can actually relate. When I was 11 or 12, when I should have been out and about investigating what the hell "girls" were, I instead invested rather too much of my spare time "designing" coaches. And, of course, if you do that, you have to choose a livery, so I did. For whatever reason, Clearwater Tours took my fancy.

Top one here was my vision of what a double-deck Plaxton Excalibur might look like:

Thanks.  I did wonder.  Now I know, I will see it in a clearer light!  Will hold onto it a while longer and just pop it into small scale shots for the sake of it.  Looked it up - could this hold the record for size of packaging for a 1:76 scale single model?!

1929950375_s-l1600(1).thumb.jpg.13f299469d3c9c554108d72130582838.jpg

The scale is questionable.  If I've read it right, the 1986 Kenworth W-900 B is 102in (2.6m) across, wheel to wheel.  Quick calc makes that approx 1:86.  Hmmm...   so against a Hongwell Mercedes 280 SL (sold as 1:76) :

2.thumb.jpg.6d837c8fe6615627665b6e6bd317876a.jpg

Against a Lone Star Mercedes 230 SL (stamped 1:86) :

1.thumb.jpg.16f598611e1ffb478d847904857dade1.jpg

Well I know which I would go for...

3.thumb.jpg.61f4865baf3891e2b66715fe10eee953.jpg

Either way, bought it, not just because it was 99p, but also because a teenage moi was amazed by the engineering to get one to pull that wheelie in the film.  Being filmed 1988, it wasn't CGI, the stunts were done for real:

It still has the original 1 ton counterweight mounted on the fifth wheel assembly extending approx 5 feet behind the frame rails. The rear suspension was also modified to allow for extra travel. The truck does pull wheelies under its own power. Ive seen and driven this truck  [source: https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_6710-Kenworth-W-900-B-1989.html]

Which probably* means the chassis should be chopped and rejoined to make it permanently do this sort of thing:

WP_20230121_20_17_54_Rich.thumb.jpg.6e9911076e2454b02fad98446f94f26b.jpg

Two Lone Star 1:86 Corvettes popped over to check out the scene.  Yep, going to stick with a scale nearer 1:86.

Apart from that wheelie effort, earlier on in the film sequence the Kenworth does this:

A rig was devised to tilt the tanker on its side but proved unnecessary. “The tanker driver (Rémy Julienne) appeared on location — no crash helmet, seat belt or anything,” remembered 2nd unit special effects supervisor Chris Corbould. “He put a ramp up and he just drove up, and he put the tanker on its side. It was quite amazing.”  [source: https://www.007.com/licence-to-kill/]

He did that in one take.  RIP Rémy Julienne.
